2013–14 Canisius Golden Griffins Men's Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Canisius Golden Griffins men's basketball team represented Canisius College during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Golden Griffins, led by second year head coach Jim Baron, played their home games at the Koessler Athletic Center and were members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 21–13, 14–6 in MAAC play to finish in a tie for third place. They advanced to the semifinals of the MAAC tournament where they lost to Iona. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they lost in the first round to VMI. Jim Baron
James Edward Baron (born March 20, 1954) is a retired American college basketball coach. He previously held the position of head coach at Saint Francis University, St. Bonaventure University, the University of Rhode Island and Canisius College. Playing career Baron lettered in basketball for four years (1973 to 1977) at St. Bonaventure University and helped St. Bonaventure win the 1977 National Invitation Tournament as a senior. Baron graduated from St. Bonaventure with a degree in physical education in 1977 and later earned a master's degree in counseling from the same institution in 1988. Coaching career In 1977, Baron began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Aquinas Institute in Rochester, New York. The following year, Baron became an assistant coach at NCAA Division III University of Rochester. Baron moved up to Division I as an assistant for Loyola College in Maryland for the 1979–80 season. East Greenwich is a town and the county seat of Kent County, Rhode Island. The population was 14,312 at the 2020 census. Daemen College
Daemen University is a private university in Amherst, New York and Brooklyn, New York. Formerly Daemen College and Rosary Hill College, the now-nondenominational school was founded by the Sisters of St. Francis in 1947. Alkmaar () is a city and municipality in the Netherlands, located in the province of North Holland, about 30 km north of Amsterdam. Alkmaar is well known for its traditional cheese market.
