Adler Arena Skating Center
The Adler Arena Trade And Exhibition Center (Адлер-Арена) is an 8,000-seat speed skating rink, speed skating oval in the Sochi Olympic Park, Olympic Park, Sochi, Russia. It opened in 2012 and looks like an iceberg or ice fault. The center hosted the speed skating events at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Original plans for after the Olympics were for the Adler Arena to be turned into an exhibition center. It cost United States Dollar, $32.8 million to build the venue, including the temporary works for the Olympics. Before the Olympics it hosted the 2013 Russian Speed Skating Championships in December 2012 and the 2013 World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships from 21 to 24 March 2013. Christine Nesbitt
Christine Nesbitt (born 17 May 1985) is a Canadian retired long track speed skater who currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. She won the gold medal in the 1000 metres event at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. She had previously won a silver medal in the team pursuit at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. She is also the 2011 sprint champion, 2012 1500 metres world champion, three-time world champion for 1000 metres (2009, 2011, 2012), and three-time world champion for team pursuit (2007, 2009, 2011). On 4 June 2015 she announced her retirement. Nesbitt previously held the world record for 1000 metres, with a time of 1:12:68 recorded in Calgary on 28 January 2012. Ivanie Blondin (born April 2, 1990) is a Canadian speed skater. She primarily skates in the long distances of 3000 m and 5000 m and the mass start event. Blondin won a silver medal in the mass start event at the 2015 World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships and a gold medal in the same event at the 2020 World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships. She also won the silver medal at the 2020 World Allround Speed Skating Championships. She won a gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics, in Women's team pursuit. Miho Takagi (speed Skater)
is a Japanese speed skater. She has won a total of seven medals at the Olympics, two of them gold. Career At the age of 15, Takagi represented Japan at the 2010 Winter Olympics, finishing 35th in the women's 1000 metres and 23rd in the 1500 metres. Ida Njåtun
Ida Njåtun (; born 6 February 1991) is a Norwegian speed skater specialising in the 1500 and 3000 metres distances. She represents the club Asker SK. Njåtun won her first medal at a Norwegian senior championship in 2008 (then aged 16), and became Norwegian allround champion in 2011. Njåtun withdrew from defending her national title the following season due to illness, but came back to win four successive gold medals in the allround championships from 2013 to 2016, and again in 2019. Mari Hemmer (; born 20 November 1983) is a Norwegian long-track speed skater, with particular strength in the longer distances 3000 m and 5000 m. She is the Norwegian Allround Champion for 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, the Norwegian Sprint Champion for 2005, 2009, 2010, and has also won numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals from national championships at single distances. Hege Bøkko (; born 5 September 1991) is a Norwegian long-track speedskater, and the younger sister of Håvard Bøkko. Personal life Hege was born in Hønefoss in Buskerud county, Norway in 1991, but she has been living in Hovet, Buskerud her whole life. She has two older brothers, amongst them is Håvard Bøkko. Yekaterina Alexandrovna Lobysheva (russian: Екатерина Александровна Лобышева; born 13 March 1985) is a retired Russian speed skater. She won bronze medals in the team pursuit at the 2006 and 2014 Winter Olympics. Career In the season of 2005–06 Lobysheva acted for the first time in the European Championships Allround. After good results on the short distances (1st in 500 m, 4th in 1500 m) she finished sixth in the rankings.
