2013 Women's South American Hockey Championship
The 2013 Women's South American Hockey Championship was the 5th edition of the Women's South American Hockey Championship. It was held between 26 January and 2 February 2013 in Santiago, Chile. Argentina women's national field hockey team, Argentina won the tournament for the fifth time after defeating Chile women's national field hockey team, Chile 4–0 in the final. Uruguay women's national field hockey team, Uruguay won the bronze medal after defeating Brazil women's national field hockey team, Brazil 4–1 in the third place match. Santiago
Santiago (, ; ), also known as Santiago de Chile, is the capital and largest city of Chile as well as one of the largest cities in the Americas. Andrea Greene (born 12 May 1988) is a Chilean former field hockey player who played as a forward. Personal life Greene was born and raised in Santiago, Chile. Career Under–21 Greene made her debut for the Chile U–21 team at the 2008 Pan American Championship in Mexico City, where she won a silver medal. The following year she appeared at the 2009 FIH Junior World Cup in Boston. Las Diablas Greene made her debut for Las Diablas in 2008, at the South American Championship in Montevideo. After her debut, Greene had a five-year hiatus from the national team. In 2013, Greene returned to the national team for the 2013 edition of the South American Championship in Santiago. Javiera Villagra Lira (born 17 March 1983) is a former field hockey player from Chile, who played as a midfielder. Personal life Javiera Villagra was born and raised in Santiago, Chile. Career College sport In 2003, Villagra travelled to the United States to play college sport for American University in Washington. She was a member of the AU Eagles until 2005. She was named an All–American on three occasions by the NFHCA. Las Diablas Villagra made her debut for Las Diablas in 1997, at just 14 years of age. Following her debut, Villagra was a mainstay in the national team for 18 years, until her retirement in 2015 following the Pan American Games. Throughout her career, Villagra medalled many times, most notably winning bronze at both the 2009 Pan American Cup in Hamilton, and the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara. Carolina García (born 21 March 1985) is a Chilean field hockey player. Career Junior National Team García first represented the Chile Under 21 team in 2005, at the Pan-American Junior Championships in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At the tournament, García finished as highest goalscorer with 11 goals, helping Chile to third place. Again in 2005, García represented the Chile junior team at the Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile, where the team finished in 10th place. Senior National Team García debuted for the senior national team in 2003. Her first major tournament with the team was the 2003 Pan American Games.
