2012–13 UCI America Tour
The 2012–13 UCI America Tour was the ninth season for the UCI America Tour. The season began on 7 October 2012 with the Tobago Cycling Classic and ended on 7 September 2013 with the Bucks County Classic. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI America Tour cycling jersey. Rory Sutherland from Australia was the defending champion of the 2011–12 UCI America Tour. Janier Acevedo from Colombia was crowned as the 2012–13 UCI America Tour champion. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. Óscar Miguel Sevilla Rivera (born 29 September 1976), nicknamed ''El Niño'', is a Spanish-Colombian professional road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI Continental team . He is a climber with a pedigree in stage races, having finished in the top ten of the Tour de France and Vuelta a España several times. Biography Kelme–Costa Blanca (1998–2003) Born in Ossa de Montiel, Albacete Province, Sevilla turned professional in 1998 for Spanish team , and his big breakthrough came in the 2001 Tour de France. Here, he showed himself as a great climber, ranking 7th in the overall General classification, and winning the young rider classification as the rider of 25 years of age or younger with the highest position in the general classification. Vuelta A Colombia
The Vuelta a Colombia (Spanish for ''Tour of Colombia'') is an annual cycling road race, run over many stages throughout different regions in Colombia and sometimes Venezuela and Ecuador during the first days of August. It is organized by the Colombian Cycling Federation, and was previously included in the UCI America Tour. History The first Vuelta a Colombia was held in 1951 as an idea of Englishman Donald W. Raskin and a few of his friends, emulating the European Tour de France. It was a 1,233 kilometers race which was divided in 10 stages which included three rest days. Thirty-five cyclists lined up for the race and of which thirty finished the race. The first champion of the Vuelta was Efraín Forero Triviño who won seven stages of the race. For the second edition, the race was increased in stages to 13 and was around 1,670 km in length. It was held from the 12 to the 27 or 28 January 1952.
