2013 V8 Supercar Season
The 2013 V8 Supercar season was the seventeenth year in which V8 Supercars contested the senior Australian touring car series. It was the 54th year of touring car racing in Australia since the first runnings of the Australian Touring Car Championship, now known as the International V8 Supercars Championship, and the fore-runner of the present day Bathurst 1000, the Armstrong 500. The season began on 1 March at the Adelaide Street Circuit and finished on 8 December at the Homebush Street Circuit. 2013 featured the seventeenth V8 Supercar Championship, consisting of 36 races at 14 events covering all six states and the Northern Territory of Australia as well as events in New Zealand and for the first time, the United States of America. The Supercars Championship is a touring car racing category in Australia, running as an International Series under Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) regulations, governing the sport. Supercars events take place in all Australian states and the Northern Territory, with the Australian Capital Territory formerly holding the Canberra 400. Sydney Motorsport Park
Sydney Motorsport Park (known until May 2012 as Eastern Creek International Raceway) is a motorsport circuit located on Brabham Drive, Eastern Creek (40-kilometres west of the Sydney CBD), New South Wales, Australia, adjacent to the Western Sydney International Dragway. It was built and is owned by the New South Wales Government and is operated by the Australian Racing Drivers Club. The circuit is one of only two permanent tracks in Australia with an FIA Grade 2 license and is licensed for both cars and motorcycles. 2013 MSS Security V8 Supercars Challenge
The 2013 V8 Supercars Albert Park Challenge was a motor race for the Australian sedan-based V8 Supercars. It was a stand-alone event not part of the 2013 International V8 Supercars Championship, but it was attended by all of the International Championship's teams. The event was held at the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit as the principal support event of the 2013 Australian Grand Prix. Fabian Coulthard won the opening three races with Scott McLaughlin winning the fourth and final race. Fabian Coulthard
Fabian "Fabs" Coulthard (born 28 July 1982) is a British-born New Zealand professional race car driver, currently competing in the Repco Supercars Championship, driving as an endurance co-driver for Chaz Mostert with Walkinshaw Andretti United. Fabian is a second cousin of former Formula One driver David Coulthard. Early career Coulthard was born in Burnley, England but raised in Auckland, New Zealand. He started his career in karts before moving into Formula Ford. He competed in the Formula Ford support races at the 2002 Australian Grand Prix, winning the Alan Jones Trophy with two wins and a second place in the three races. The Supercars Challenge (known for sponsorship reasons as the Coates Hire Supercars Challenge, and previously known under various other names) was an annual non-championship motor racing event held for cars from the Supercars Championship, and formerly from V8 Supercars, the Shell Championship Series and the Australian Touring Car Championship. The event is held on the Albert Park Circuit in Albert Park, Victoria, Australia as a support event to the Australian Grand Prix. Chaz Mostert
Chaz Mostert (born 10 April 1992) is an Australian professional racing driver competing in the Repco Supercars Championship. He currently drives the No. 25 Holden ZB Commodore for Walkinshaw Andretti United. Mostert was the winner of the 2021 Bathurst 1000 with Lee Holdsworth and has also previously won the 2014 Bathurst 1000 with Paul Morris and the 2010 Australian Formula Ford Championship. Early career Mostert, who grew up in Browns Plains near Brisbane, commenced kart racing at age seven in Ipswich and the Gold Coast. Mostert progressed into Formula Ford in 2008. 2013 Clipsal 500 Adelaide
The 2013 Clipsal 500 Adelaide was a motor race for V8 Supercars held on 2 and 3 March 2013. The event was held at the Adelaide Street Circuit in Adelaide, South Australia, and consisted of two races of two hundred and fifty kilometres in length. It was the first round of the 2013 International V8 Supercars Championship, and marked the racing debuts of the Holden VF Commodore, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, and Nissan Altima L33, all of which were entered in the series under the brand-new "Car of the Future" regulations; Ford continued to use the FG Falcon model raced in previous years, but built to Car of the Future specifications.
