2013 UC Davis Aggies Football Team
The 2013 UC Davis football team represented the University of California, Davis as a member of the Big Sky Conference during the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by first-year head coach Ron Gould, UC Davis compiled an overall record of 5–7 with a mark of 5–3 in conference play, placing in four-way tie for fourth in the Big Sky. The Aggies played home games at Aggie Stadium in Davis, California. Schedule UC Davis played 10 Big Sky opponents during the 2013 season, but only eight of the games counted as conference games. Games against Portland State and Northern Arizona counted as non-conference games and had no effect on the Big Sky standings. Media All UC Davis games were carried live on KHTK 1140 AM. Big Sky Conference
The Big Sky Conference (BSC) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I with football competing in the Football Championship Subdivision. Member institutions are located in the western United States in the eight states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Four affiliate members each participate in one sport: two from California are football–only participants and two from the Northeast participate only in men's golf. 2013 Southern Utah Thunderbirds Football Team
The 2013 Southern Utah Thunderbirds football team represented Southern Utah University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by sixth year head coach Ed Lamb and played their home games at Eccles Coliseum. This was their second year as a member of the Big Sky Conference. They finished the season 8–5, 5–3 in Big Sky play to finish in a four way tie for fourth place. They received an at-large bid to the FCS Playoffs where they lost in the first round to Sam Houston State. Media All Thunderbirds football games were broadcast live on KSUU. They were streamed online at power91radio. All conference road games and all home games not on Root were streamed via Big Sky TV. The 2013 University of North Dakota football team represented the University of North Dakota in the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season as a member of the Big Sky Conference. They were led by fifth-year head coach Chris Mussman and played their home games at the Alerus Center. North Dakota the season 3–8 overall and 2–6 in Big Sky play to place tenth. Battle For The Golden Horseshoe
The Battle for the Golden Horseshoe is an annual rivalry college football game played between the UC Davis Aggies and the Cal Poly Mustangs. Although the two teams have met on the gridiron since 1939, the rivalry officially began in name with the 2004 game at Cal Poly. The winner of the game receives the Golden Horseshoe Trophy, which was also created in 2004 for the inaugural game. Due to a misunderstanding, both schools constructed a trophy for the rivalry and brought it to the inaugural game. The teams decided that the rivalry would adopt the trophy created by the winner of that game; UC Davis won 36–33 and was therefore allowed to make its trophy the official one to be exchanged in all subsequent meetings. Nottingham Field is an 8,533-seat multi-purpose stadium in the western United States, located on the campus of the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.
