2013 Sidekicks Premier Season
The 2013 Sidekicks Premier season was the first season of the Premier Arena Soccer League affiliate of the Dallas Sidekicks professional indoor soccer club. The Dallas Sidekicks, a team in the Professional Arena Soccer League, launched Sidekicks Premier as a developmental affiliate to allow rookies and prospects to perform in a structured setting. Sidekicks Premier, a South Central Division team, played their home games in the Inwood Soccer Center in Addison, Texas. The team was led by head coach Tatu with assistant coaches Mike Powers and Caesar Cervin. Team owner Ronnie Davis coached the team for one away game, the July 7th match against the Alamo City Warriors. Season summary The team finished the 8-game regular season with a 7–1 record, placing second in the South Central Division, just behind Austin FC who finished with a 7–0–1 record. Mike Powers (soccer)
Mike Powers is a retired American soccer midfielder who played sixteen years with the Dallas Sidekicks. He also played in the second American Soccer League and the United Soccer League. Player Youth Powers attended Rockhurst University, playing for the men/s soccer team from 1975 to 1980. He is a member of the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. Professional In 1979, the Wichita Wings selected Powers in the Territorial Round (10th overall) of the Major Indoor Soccer League Draft. He played from 1980 to 1983 with the Wings. In addition to playing indoors with the Wings, Powers also played three seasons, from 1981 to 1983 with the Detroit Express of the American Soccer League. The Express won the 1982 ASL championship. Both the Express and the ASL collapsed at the end of the 1983 season and Powers moved to the Dallas Americans of the United Soccer League for two seasons. The Americans and the USL collapsed in 1985. Allen is a city in Collin County in the U.S. state of Texas, and a northern suburb of Dallas. According to the 2020 U.S. census its population was 104,627, up from 84,246 in 2010. Allen is located approximately twenty miles (32.2 km) north of downtown Dallas and is a part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Alamo City Warriors
The Battle of the Alamo (February 23 – March 6, 1836) was a pivotal event in the Texas Revolution. Following a 13-day siege, Mexican troops under President General Antonio López de Santa Anna reclaimed the Alamo Mission near San Antonio de Béxar (modern-day San Antonio, Texas, United States), killing most of the occupants inside. Santa Anna's refusal to take prisoners during the battle inspired many Texians and Tejanos to join the Texian Army. Motivated by a desire for revenge, as well as their written desire to preserve a border open to immigration and the importation and practice of slavery, the Texians defeated the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto, on April 21, 1836, ending the rebellion in favor of the newly formed Republic of Texas. Oxford City FC of Texas was an American professional indoor soccer team based in Beaumont, Texas. The team joined the Professional Arena Soccer League on September 26, 2012, as the Texas Strikers. Play in the team's 2012–13 Texas Strikers season, inaugural season began in November 2012. In May 2014, the league changed its name to Major Arena Soccer League. The team played at Ford Arena. Oxford City Football Club, Inc. purchased the Texas Strikers on July 23, 2014, and the team was renamed after Oxford City F.C., the parent club as "Oxford City FC of Texas". On December 15, 2014, team owner Oxford City Football Club, Inc. announced that it had "successfully come to terms to sell" Oxford City FC of Texas to an unspecified "Latin American group", pending league approval.
