2013 Premier League Asia Trophy
The 2013 Premier League Asia Trophy was the sixth edition of the Premier League Asia Trophy. Sunderland, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Hong Kong club South China competed for the title on 24 July 2013 and 27 July 2013 at Hong Kong Stadium in So Kon Po, Hong Kong. Manchester City were the winners, beating Sunderland 1–0 in the final. The tournament was also notable for the absence of Tottenham Hotspur's star Gareth Bale. Bale travelled with Spurs to Hong Kong, but an injury he suffered in training meant he did not play in either of Tottenham's matches. Adilson Tavares Varela
Adilson Tavares Varela (born 22 October 1988), commonly known as Cabral, is a former professional footballer. He spent most of his career at Basel, winning ten honours including five Swiss Super League championships and three Swiss Cup titles. He also had brief spells in three foreign countries. After representing his adopted Switzerland 30 times between under-18 and under-21 level, Cabral was called up in 2012 for his native Cape Verde but did not play. Premier League Asia Trophy
The Premier League Asia Trophy (formerly the FA Premier League Asia Cup) is a biennial pre-season association football friendly tournament in Asia. The two-day competition was inaugurated in 2003 and is one of two Premier League-affiliated competitions to be hosted outside England, alongside the Premier League Summer Series in the US. It has taken place every other summer since then in order to avoid conflicting with the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship. For sponsorship purposes, it was referred to as the Barclays Asia Trophy from 2007 until 2015, after which the Premier League discontinued title sponsorship. The competition features three clubs that are members of the Premier League, as well as a local team from the host country. Neil Swarbrick
Neil Swarbrick (born 20 December 1965) is an English retired football referee who officiated primarily in the Premier League having been promoted to the Select Group of Referees in 2011. He is based in Preston, Lancashire, and is a member of the Lancashire County Football Association. Career Swarbrick took up refereeing relatively late, at the age of 29. Within six years he was promoted to the National List of assistant referees. He fulfilled this role for four years before being added to the Referees' List. He refereed in the Football Conference until moving up into the Football League. He has also officiated FA Cup and Football League Cup matches. Andros Darryl Townsend (born 16 July 1991) is an English professional footballer who plays as a winger for club Everton. A graduate of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, Townsend was initially loaned out to several League One and then Championship clubs alongside limited Tottenham appearances, before making his Premier League debut in September 2012. Anthony Taylor (born 20 October 1978) is an English professional football referee from Wythenshawe, Manchester. In 2010, he was promoted to the list of Select Group Referees who officiate primarily in the Premier League, and in 2013 became a listed referee for FIFA allowing him to referee European and international matches.
