2013 New York Giants
The New York Giants season was the franchise's 89th season in the National Football League (NFL), the fourth playing their home games at MetLife Stadium and the tenth under head coach Tom Coughlin. The Giants attempted to attain a playoff berth after failing to do so in 2012, and be the first team to play the Super Bowl on their own home field, which they share with the New York Jets. However, they failed to improve on their 9–7 record and were eliminated from playoff contention after their Week 14 loss to the Chargers. The Giants started 0-6, but rallied to win 7 of their last 10, finishing 7-9. This was the Giants' first losing season since 2004. NFC East
The National Football Conference – Eastern Division or NFC East is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). It currently has four members: the Dallas Cowboys (based in Arlington, Texas), New York Giants (based in East Rutherford, New Jersey), Philadelphia Eagles (based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), and the Washington Commanders (based in Landover, Maryland). The division was formed in 1967 as the National Football League Capitol Division and acquired its current name in 1970 when the NFL AFL-NFL merger, merged with the American Football League. 1964 New York Jets Season
The 1964 New York Jets season was the fifth season for the team in the American Football League (AFL). The season marked their first in Shea Stadium, after four seasons in the Polo Grounds. The season began with the team trying to improve on their 5–8–1 record from 1963 under head coach Weeb Ewbank. The Jets finished the season 5–8–1. The Jets modified their helmet and logo design for 1964, switching from a single green stripe to two parallel green stripes down the center of the helmet crown. The jet-airplane logo decal was replaced by a white football shape outlined in green, with the word "JETS" in thick green sans-serif capitals over "NY" in green outline serif lettering, and a miniature football at bottom center. 1982 San Francisco 49ers Season
The 1982 San Francisco 49ers season was the franchise's 33rd season in the National Football League and their 37th overall. The team was coming off a Super Bowl victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. However, 1982 was strike-shortened, and only nine games were played. The 49ers finished 3–6, thus missing the playoffs despite the expanded sixteen team format. Their .333 winning percentage is the worst ever for any defending NFL or AFL champion as of 2022. This season was the only one in an 18-season span in which the 49ers did not win at least ten games. This 49ers team was also the only team in history to win more than half its road games while losing all its home games. 1978 San Francisco 49ers Season
The 1978 San Francisco 49ers season was the franchise's 29th season in the National Football League and their 33rd overall. The team began the season hoping to improve upon their previous output of 5–9. Instead, the team started the season 0–4 for the second straight year. The team also suffered a nine-game losing streak. During the off-season, the 49ers acquired running back O. J. Simpson, who originally hailed from San Francisco, from the Buffalo Bills. Although Simpson had been one of the best backs in the league over the previous decade, he was in poor physical condition and had recently undergone knee surgery. As a result, his playing ability was limited. The 49ers finished with the worst record in the league and scored only 219 points the fewest in the league in 1978. 1996 Baltimore Ravens Season
The 1996 season was the Baltimore Ravens' inaugural season in the National Football League and first under coach Ted Marchibroda. They played their home games at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. Baltimore had remained without an NFL football franchise for 12 years after the Baltimore Colts relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana. The Washington Redskins season was the franchise's 51st season in the National Football League (NFL) and their 46th in Washington, D.C. Although the Redskins lost all their preseason games, they were to advance from an 8–8 record the previous season to become the only 2 teams in NFL history to win the Super Bowl after not winning a pre-season game (the other being the 2021 Los Angeles Rams).
