2013 New York Film Festival
The 51st New York Film Festival was held September 27 – October 13, 2013. The lineup consisted of eight sections: * Main Slate (36 films and four shorts programs) * Spotlight on Documentary (21 films) * Emerging Artists (six films) * Views from the Avant-Garde (45 programs) * Special Events (three films) * Revivals (11 films) * Jean-Luc Godard Retrospective (54 films and six shorts programs) * Convergence (transmedia presentations and talks) The Festival also included talks with Richard Curtis, James Gray, Paul Greengrass, Agnieszka Holland, and Frederick Wiseman. New York Film Festival
The New York Film Festival (NYFF) is a film festival held every fall in New York City, presented by Film at Lincoln Center (FLC). Founded in 1963 by Richard Roud and Amos Vogel with the support of Lincoln Center president William Schuman, it is one of the longest-running and most prestigious film festivals in the United States. The non-competitive festival is centered on a "Main Slate" of typically 20–30 feature films, with additional sections for experimental cinema and new restorations. As of 2020, Eugene Hernandez is the Director of NYFF and Dennis Lim is the Director of Programming for NYFF. Kent Jones was the festival director from 2013 to 2019. All Is Lost
''All Is Lost'' is a 2013 survival drama film written and directed by J. C. Chandor. The film stars Robert Redford as a man lost at sea. Redford is the only cast member, and the film has 51 spoken English words. ''All Is Lost'' is Chandor's second feature film, following his 2011 debut ''Margin Call''. It screened Out of Competition at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. The title of the film is a nod to E. W. Hornung's observation that when courage is lost, "all is lost". Among many honors, the film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Sound Editing (Steve Boeddeker and Richard Hymns) and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score (Alex Ebert). Sebastián Lelio Watt (born 8 March 1974) is a Chilean director, screenwriter, editor and producer. He received critical acclaim for directing the films ''Gloria'' (2013) and ''A Fantastic Woman'' (2017), the latter of which won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. ''Gloria'' is a 2013 Chilean-Spanish drama film directed by Sebastián Lelio. The film premiered in competition at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival, where Paulina García won the Silver Bear for Best Actress. It was shown at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. The film was selected as the Chilean entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. Abdellatif Kechiche (; ar, عبد اللطيف كشيش, born 7 December 1960) is a Tunisian- French actor, film director and screenwriter.
