2013 NHL Entry Draft
The 2013 NHL Entry Draft was the 51st NHL Entry Draft. All seven rounds of the draft took place on June 30, 2013, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The top three selections were Nathan MacKinnon going to the Colorado Avalanche, Aleksander Barkov going to the Florida Panthers, and Jonathan Drouin going to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Eligibility Ice hockey players born between January 1, 1993, and September 15, 1995, were eligible for selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Additionally, un-drafted, non-North American players born in 1992 were eligible for the draft; and those players who were drafted in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, but not signed by an NHL team and who were born after June 30, 1993, were also eligible to re-enter the draft. Prudential Center is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the central business district of Newark, New Jersey. Opened in 2007, it is the home of the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the men's basketball program of Seton Hall University, known as the Seton Hall Pirates. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). Frédérik Gauthier (born April 26, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey Centre (ice hockey), centre currently under contract with HC Ajoie of the National League (ice hockey), National League (NL). Gauthier was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round, 21st overall, of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft after spending three years with the Rimouski Océanic in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Jacob Waldemar de la Rose (born 20 May 1995) is a Swedish professional ice hockey forward currently playing for HC Fribourg-Gottéron of the National League (NL). de la Rose was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round, 34th overall, of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues. Valentin Valentinovich Zykov (russian: Валентин Валентинович Зыков; born 15 May 1995) is a Russian professional ice hockey winger who is currently playing for SKA Saint Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round (37th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. André Burakovsky (also stylized as Burakowsky; born 9 February 1995) is an Austrian-born Swedish professional ice hockey forward for the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously played for the Washington Capitals, who drafted him 23rd overall in 2013, along with the Colorado Avalanche, who acquired his rights and consequently signed him during the 2019 offseason. Hunter Shinkaruk (born October 13, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger who is currently playing for Dinamo Riga in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Alexander Wennberg
Alexander Wennberg (born 22 September 1994) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player for the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously played for the Columbus Blue Jackets and Florida Panthers. He was drafted by the Blue Jackets in the first round, 14th overall, of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Sean Monahan (born October 12, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). Elias Viktor Zebulon Lindholm (born 2 December 1994) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player and an alternate captain for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL).
