2013 Le Samyn Des Dames
The 2013 Le Samyn des Dames was the second running of the women's Le Samyn, a women's bicycle race in Fayt-le-Franc, Belgium. It was held on 27 February 2013 over a distance of starting in Frameries and finishing in Dour. It was rated by the UCI as a 1.2 category race. The race was part of the 2013 Lotto Cycling Cup. Race A miscommunication caused the race started while some teams were on the stage signing the startlist. The race was controlled for the most part by the teams of Tibco, , Orica–AIS and Hitec. It stayed together until the last third of the race. With about to go Ellen van Dijk attacked over a cobbled section. In the scramble to close the gap, a number of riders went down at the front of the peloton. Ellen Van Dijk
Eleonora Maria "Ellen" van Dijk (; born 11 February 1987) is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Besides road cycling she was also a track cyclist until 2012. Van Dijk is known as a time trial specialist and is five times world champion. She won her first world title on the track in the scratch race in 2008. She became Road World Champion in 2012, 2013 and 2016 with her respective trade teams in the team time trial and in 2013 also in the individual time trial. In 2015, she won the time trial at the first European Games and the silver medal in the team time trial at the world championships. Van Dijk started as a speed skater and as part of her skating training she undertook cycling as part of cross-training in summer. She excelled at both, competing nationally at junior level. Tiffany Jane Cromwell (born 6 July 1988) is an Australian road and gravel cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Career Road Junior career Starting in 2002, after being identified by the South Australian sports institute talent identification program, Cromwell began her cycling career. Cycling was not the first sport Cromwell picked up, having done ballet, running, triathlons and basketball beforehand, the last of which she had family ties to. Despite an interest in pursuing basketball as a career before cycling, Cromwell admits her height 'always let erdown'. Initially, Cromwell disliked cycling, citing that she was 'Tiny and one of the worst in ergroup' on the track, but soon discovered her love for the sport when she placed third in her first road race in the state championships. Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling () was a British professional cycling team based in Belgium, which competed in elite road bicycle racing and track cycling events, such as the UCI Women's Road World Cup. The team closed at the end of 2018. The team was the idea of the manager and rider Rochelle Gilmore, and was formed with backing from the Bradley Wiggins Foundation and British Cycling. Sofie De Vuyst (born 2 April 1987) is a Belgian former racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2006 and 2019. Between 2010 and 2016 she competed in every UCI Road World Championships. She was voted 2019 Flandrienne of the Year (best Belgian female cyclist). In September 2019, De Vuyst tested positive for an exogenous steroid in an out of competition control. De Vuyst's positive test came on 18 September, in the week after the Belgium Tour, where she finished seventh overall and won the mountains classification, and before the UCI Road World Championships. A contract that she had signed for 2020 with was suspended as a result of her positive test. Claudia Lichtenberg (née Häusler; born 17 November 1985 in Munich) is a German former professional cyclist, who now works as a coach for German amateur team RSV Irschenberg. Born in Munich, Lichtenberg won the Tour de l'Aude in 2009, a race which, at the time, was called the "women's Tour de France", and also the Giro d'Italia Femminile. She competed for Germany at the 2016 Summer Olympics where she finished in 31st place in the women's road race. On the first day of the 2017 Giro d'Italia Femminile, Lichtenberg announced her retirement from professional road racing at the end of the 2017 season written in a rider blog. Adriana ("Adrie") Visser (born 19 October 1983 in Hoorn) is a former Dutch track and road racer who lives in Wieringerwerf. Visser started her professional career in 2001, when she finished second at the Dutch road race championship. She came fifth in the time trial. In track cycling she won her first national titles, becoming Dutch champion in the 500m time trial and sprint. She also won a silver medal in the points race. At the world championships in Trexlertown, Pennsylvania, USA, she was seventh in the 500m time trial and eighth in the sprint and individual pursuit.
