Billboard Latin Music Awards
The ''Billboard'' Latin Music Awards grew out of the ''Billboard'' Music Awards program from ''Billboard'' magazine, an industry publication charting the sales and radio airplay success of musical recordings. The ''Billboard'' awards are the Latin music industry’s longest running award. The award ceremonies are held during the same week as Latinfest+ (formerly known as the ''Billboard'' Latin Music Conference). The first award ceremony began in 1994. In addition to awards given on the basis of success on the Billboard charts, the ceremony includes the Spirit of Hope award for humanitarian achievements and the Lifetime Achievement award, as well as awards by the broadcasting partner. Musician Enrique Iglesias has won 47 awards, the colombian Shakira has won 42 awards, and is the most awarded female. Armando Christian Pérez (born January 15, 1981), known professionally by his stage name Pitbull, is an American rapper and businessman. He began his career in the early 2000s, recording reggaeton, Latin hip hop, and crunk music under a multitude of labels. In 2004, he released his debut album ''M.I.A.M.I.'' under TVT Records and the executive production of Lil Jon. Pitbull later released his second album, ''El Mariel'', in 2006 and his third, ''The Boatlift'', in 2007. Banda El Recodo
Banda Sinaloense El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga, often referred to simply as Banda El Recodo, is a Mexican banda formed in Mazatlán, Sinaloa in 1938; it has been under the direction of the Lizárraga family. Banda El Recodo has recorded with popular artists such as José Alfredo Jiménez and Juan Gabriel. The ensemble consists of four clarinets, three trumpets, a tambora, a snare drum set with cowbells & cymbals, a sousaphone, three trombones, two tenor horns (referred to as saxores, amonias or charchetas in Mexico), and two vocalists. La Arrolladora Banda El Limón de René Camacho, or simply La Arrolladora, is a Mexican banda from Mazatlán, Sinaloa. In 1997 they signed with Sony Music Latin. In 2003, they switched labels and signed with Disa Records. History Banda El Limón was formed in 1965 in El Limón de los Peraza, Sinaloa by Pedro Aramburo, Encarnación Peraza, Lino Quintero, Carlos Peraza and Pedro Peraza. The Banda began performing in the port of Mazatlán, and in 1976, Salvador Lizárraga assumed the direction of the Banda. In 1997, internal conflicts arose in the Banda, as René Camacho assumed the temporary direction while Salvador Lizárraga was recovering from a stroke. The disputes between Camacho and Lizárraga led to the division of the Banda in two: René Camacho recruited many members of the Banda and founded La Arrolladora Banda El Limón, while the members who remained with Lizárraga continued performing as La Original Banda El Limón. Wisin & Yandel is a Puerto Rican reggaeton duo consisting of Wisin and Yandel. They started their career in the late 1990s and have been together since, winning several awards including a Grammy Award in 2009. They became the first and the only reggaeton artists to win one. In late 2013, they announced they would take a pause in their career as a duo, after their Líderes tour.
