2013 Ironman World Championship
The 2013 Ironman World Championship was a long distance triathlon competition that was held on October 12, 2013 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The event was won by Belgium's Frederik Van Lierde and Australia's Mirinda Carfrae. It was the 37th edition of the Ironman World Championship, which has been held annually in Hawaii since 1978. The championship is organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). Championship results Men Women Carfrae broke Chrissie Wellington's course record of 8:54:02 set in 2009. She also lowered her own marathon course record of 2:52:09 set in 2011. Qualification For entry into the 2013 World Championship race, amateur athletes were required to qualify through a performance at an Ironman or selected Ironman 70.3 race. Kailua-Kona is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaii County, Hawaii, Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States. Tyler Butterfield
Tyler Barbour Butterfield (born February 12, 1983) is an athlete from Bermuda. He competes in road bicycle racing and triathlon events. He became Bermuda's first ever professional triathlete in 2002. He was voted Bermuda's male athlete of the year in 2006 and 2013. Butterfield was the youngest male competitor at the second Olympic triathlon at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He placed thirty-fifth with a total time of 1:58:26.99. Butterfield was born in Pembroke Parish. In 2007, he competed for Team Slipstream, a UCI Professional Continental Team. Catherine Faux is a British professional triathlete. 2013 Ironman World Championship Faux finished 10th overall (including professionals) at the 2013 Ironman World Championship and was the top female age grouper. Linsey Corbin
Linsey Corbin (born February 16, 1981) is an American triathlete who races primarily in non-drafting, long-distance events. Her career includes a third place at the 2011 Ironman 70.3 World Championship and eight Ironman race wins. Career Corbin was born Linsey Pickell to parents Tom and Betty in Greenbrae, California, and grew up in Bend, Oregon, where she attended Mountain View High School. Corbin participated downhill ski racing, cross country and track & field. She attended UC Davis where she ran track but eventually took a break from the sport while attending college. She transferred to the University of Montana to study nutrition and exercise physiology in 2000. Meredith Brooke Kessler (born June 28, 1978) is an American professional triathlete from Columbus, Ohio who races in long distance, non-drafting triathlon events.
