2013 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship – Division I
The 2013 World Women's U18 Championship Division I final tournament was played in Romanshorn, Switzerland, from 2 to 8 January 2013. Japan won the tournament and after two years in Division I they returned to the Top Division. Qualification tournament The qualification tournament was played in Dumfries, Great Britain, from 27 October to 1 November 2012. The top two teams, France and Slovakia, were promoted to Division I of this year, but starting in 2014 one team will be promoted from the qualification tournament and will wait until the following year (2015) to play in Division I. Though not indicated at the time of the tournament, the 2014 schedule indicates that Austria was relegated to the qualification level, and Great Britain was promoted. The 2012 World Women's U18 Championship Division 1 tournament was played in Tromsø, Norway, from 29 December 2011 to 4 January 2012. The qualification tournament was played in Asiago, Italy, from 29 November to 4 December 2011. Featuring the "biggest success in Hungarian women's hockey" the young Magyars won all ten of their games and get the opportunity to compete with the elite hockey nations in 2013. Romanshorn
Romanshorn is a municipality in the district of Arbon in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland. History Romanshorn was probably settled in the 7th century, and is first mentioned in 779 as ''Rumanishorn'' in a land grant from Waldrata to the Abbey of St. Gall. During the Late Middle Ages and until 1367, the bailiwick of Romanshorn was partially owned by the Landsberg family. In 1455 Abbot Kaspar Landsberg sold the Romanshorn estate to the city of St. Gallen, but his religious superiors forced the courts to repeal the sale. Until 1798, the Abbey of St. Gall owned the taxation, appellate court and the homage rights (mostly in Täschlishusen at Häggenschwil) with the remaining sovereignty owned by the County of Thurgau. (also spelled Yezo or Yeso) is the Japanese term historically used to refer to the lands to the north of the Japanese island of Honshu. IIHF World Women's U18 Championship – Division I
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey.
