2013 Fordham Rams Football Team
The 2013 Fordham Rams football team represented Fordham University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by second year head coach Joe Moorhead and played their home games at Coffey Field. They were a member of the Patriot League. Fordham was not eligible for the Patriot League championship because they use scholarship players while the rest of the league's members do not. Fordham's official conference record was 0–0 and did not occupy a spot in the conference standings. Though ineligible for the conference title, Fordham finished 11–1 to earn an at-large bid in the FCS playoffs where they defeated Sacred Heart in the first round before losing in the second round to Towson. Fordham finished the season ranked 9th in the country. Its highest FCS ranking ever. Joe Moorhead
Joe Moorhead (born November 2, 1973) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head coach at the University of Akron. He was the offensive coordinator at the University of Oregon from 2020 to 2021, and the head coach at Mississippi State University from 2018 to 2019. Prior to entering coaching, Moorhead played as a quarterback at Fordham University from 1992 to 1995 and professionally for the Munich Cowboys of the German Football League in 1996-1997. Coaching career Early years After a short professional playing career, the Pittsburgh-born Moorhead began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Pittsburgh. He was hired as running backs coach at Georgetown University in 2000, eventually being elevated to quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator by 2003. DeGol Field
DeGol Field is a multi-purpose stadium in Loretto, Pennsylvania, with a seating capacity of 3,450. The 2013 Lafayette Leopards football team represented Lafayette College in the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Leopards were led by 14th year head coach Frank Tavani and played their home games at Fisher Stadium. They were a member of the Patriot League. They finished the season 5–7, 4–1 in Patriot League play to finish win the Patriot League championship. Ram–Crusader Cup
The Ram–Crusader Cup is the name of the trophy awarded to the winner of the annual football game between the Fordham Rams football, Fordham Rams and the Holy Cross Crusaders football, Holy Cross Crusaders. Both schools are members of the Patriot League. Origin of the Cup The Ram–Crusader Cup was instituted in 1951 to honor the memory of Major Frank Cavanaugh (American football), Frank W. Cavanaugh. The idea for the Cup came from William P. Walsh, at the time, a Holy Cross undergrad. Walsh was working at a summer camp headed by then Fordham head coach, Ed Danowski, when hearing that the Rams and Crusaders were restarting their series. Despite being enrolled at Holy Cross, Walsh grew up on Long Island as a Fordham football fan. Yale Bowl
The Yale Bowl Stadium is a college football stadium in the northeast United States, located in New Haven, Connecticut, on the border of West Haven, about 1½ miles (2½ km) west of the main campus of Yale University. The home of the American football team of the Yale Bulldogs of the Ivy League, it opened in 1914 with 70,896 seats; renovations have reduced its current capacity to 61,446, still making it the second largest FCS stadium, behind Tennessee State's Nissan Stadium.
