2013 Echo Awards
The 22nd Annual Echo Awards were held on March 21, 2013, at the Palais am Berliner Funkturm in Berlin. The show was broadcast on Das Erste and was hosted for the first time by Schlager entertainer Helene Fischer. Nominations for all 27 award categories were announced on January 31, 2013. Die Toten Hosen won the most number of awards during the ceremony, with four, including the Echo for Song of the Year for "Tage wie diese" and Album of the Year for ''Ballast der Republik''. In addition, the band was awarded Best National Rock/Pop Group and Producers of the Year along with Vincent Sorg. Other multiple winners include: Cro, Unheilig, Lana Del Rey and host Helene Fischer with two awards each. Funkturm Berlin
The Berliner Funkturm or Funkturm Berlin (Berlin Radio Tower) is a former broadcasting tower in Berlin. Constructed between 1924 and 1926 to designs by the architect Heinrich Straumer, it was inaugurated on 3 September 1926, on the occasion of the opening of the third Große Deutsche Funkausstellung (Great German Radio Exhibition) in the grounds of the Messe Berlin trade fair in the borough of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. Santiano (band)
Santiano is a German band from the northern state of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, whose songs combine rock, Irish folk, sea shanty, and schlager music. The name Santiano is taken from the Hugues Aufray song of the same name. They topped the German album charts multiple times in the 2010s, also ranking high in Austrian and Swiss charts. History The idea for the band originated with German producer Hartmut Krech of Flensburg, who owns the Elephant Music label. On 3 February 2012, the band appeared at We Love Music, an event promoted by Universal Music and ProSiebenSat.1 Media. Peter Plate (born 1 July 1967) is a German musician, singer, songwriter and record producer. Between 1991 and 2012, he was the keyboardist and occasional vocalist of Rosenstolz, a German pop duo that had chart hits in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Early life Peter Plate was born on 1 July 1967 in New Delhi, where his grandfather was a diplomat, and came to Germany at the age of three, spending his childhood first in Hamburg and then in Goslar. He learnt to play the electronic organ during his youth and wrote a musical with friends at the age of 17.
