2013 COSAFA U-20 Cup
The 2013 COSAFA U-20 Cup was the 22nd edition of the COSAFA U-20 Challenge Cup, an international youth competition open to national associations of the COSAFA region. It was the first time since 2011 that the competition took place, as the 2012 event was cancelled while COSAFA concentrated their effort into organising a football competition as part of the ''Zone Six Games''. Lesotho was the host nation of the competition. It took place between 3 and 14 December. The host cities were Maseru and Mafeteng. The competition was open to players born on or after 1 January 1994. Manuel Afonso
Manuel da Luz Afonso (Loulé, 31 January 1917 – 15 October 2000) was a Portuguese people, Portuguese Association football, football Manager (association football), manager. He was the head of the football department of S.L. Benfica, Benfica, during their 1960s Golden Era, until 1964 when he was called to work for the Portugal national football team as ''seleccionador'' ("the selector"), with Otto Glória as the coach. That meant that Afonso would be choosing the players but would not be the coach in charge of the squad. They took over on 15 November 1964, with a 2–1 win over Spain national football team, Spain, in a friendly match. It was a promising start to the successful campaign Portugal had in the lead up to the 1966 FIFA World Cup finals, in England. Portugal qualified for the first time, eliminating the world vice-champions Czechoslovakia national football team, Czechoslovakia. Portugal went on to reach the third place at the World Cup finals.
