The 2013 British Rowing Senior Championships were the 42nd edition of the National Senior Championships, held from 19–20 October 2013 at the National Water Sports Centre in Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham. They were organised and sanctioned by British Rowing, and are open to British rowers. Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre
Holme Pierrepont Country Park, home of The National Water Sports Centre is located in the hamlet of Holme Pierrepont near Nottingham, England and on the River Trent. It is used for many different types of sports and has recently received significant investment which has enabled a major refurbishment of existing facilities as well as introduction of new facilities. Run by Serco on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, it was previously one of five National Sports Centres, and is a unique sporting venue set in the centre of the country. History The centre was constructed during 1970 and 1971 on a former gravel works and required the excavation of one and a half million Cubic yard, cubic yards of material. Pete Reed
Peter K. Reed OBE (born 27 July 1981) is a retired British Olympic rower. Reed is a three-times Olympic gold medallist – earning gold in the Men's coxless four at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and then a gold medal in the Men's eight at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He has won five gold medals and three silver medals at the World Championships. Background and military career Reed was born in Seattle, Washington, US but his family moved to England several months later. He was brought up in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire and attended Cirencester Deer Park School, and later Cirencester College for his A-levels. Reed is a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy and began rowing relatively late. Sholto Carnegie
Sholto Carnegie (born 28 February 1995) is a British representative rower. He is an Olympian and a two-time world champion in the Great Britain men's eight. University and club rowing Raised in Oxford and educated at Cherwell School, Carnegie took up rowing aged 13 at the City of Oxford Rowing Club. Ahead of the Henley Royal Regatta of 2013 Carnegie made a switch from the City of Oxford RC to the Marlow Rowing Club with whom he won the Fawley Challenge Cup that year. By 2014 he had moved again to the Leander Club and at Henley in 2014 he won the Prince of Wales Challenge Cup in a Leander quad scull. Carnegie attended Yale University from 2014 to 2018 where he qualified for a B. Economics. Jack Beaumont (rower)
Jack Beaumont (born 21 November 1993) is a retired British rower. He is the silver medallist at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Men's quadruple sculls. He also won a silver medal at the World Championships. Career Jack is the son of Olympic rower Peter Beaumont. Beaumont started competing as part of the GB Rowing Team at the 2010 World Junior Championships in Racice, where they finished fourth. In 2014, Beaumont was a World U23 bronze medallist in men's double scull. Beaumont was involved in an accident in 2015, which fractured several vertebrae. He missed being selected for the 2016 Summer Olympics, but days before the Games started, he was chosen to replace Graeme Thomas who had fallen ill. Graeme Edward Thomas (born 8 November 1988) is a British rower. Rowing career Thomas competed at the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungju, where he won a bronze medal as part of the quad sculls with Sam Townsend, Charles Cousins and Peter Lambert. The following year he competed at the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Bosbaan, Amsterdam, where he won a silver medal as part of the quadruple sculls with Townsend, Cousins and Lambert. He was selected for the quadruple sculls for the 2016 Olympics, but illness forced him to withdraw shortly before racing started. Zak Lee-Green (born 5 February 1991) is a retired Welsh and British rower. Agecroft Rowing Club is a rowing club based at Salford Quays, Greater Manchester, England. It was formerly based close to the Agecroft Hall in Pendleton north. Its current location is its third within today's City of Salford on a site close to the city centre of Manchester. History There has been rowing in Manchester and Salford since 1823, with more than 15 clubs operating during the 1860s. Agecroft R.C. was formed by the gradual merging of these River Irwell-based clubs. Agecroft R.C. was established in Oct 1861 by Ishmael Lythgoe with its first boat house in the grounds of Agecroft Hall at Pendlebury before the manor house was sold and rebuilt by the James River in Virginia, USA. Karl Hudspith
Karl Hudspith (born 31 March 1988 in Hammersmith, London), is a British rower and scientist. Hudspith competed in four Boat Races from 2011 to 2014 for Oxford, and was a member of the winners' team on three occasions. Hudspith competed for Great Britain in rowing at Junior, Under-23, Student, and Senior levels and is a two time World University Rowing Champion. He completed his PhD at the University of Oxford where he developed a next-generation sequencing based diagnostic test for inherited retinal degeneration before beginning a legal career in American intellectual property law in Washington DC. Oxford University Boat Club
Oxford University Boat Club (OUBC) is the rowing club for male, heavyweight oarsman of the University of Oxford, England, located on the River Thames at Oxford. The club was founded in the early 19th century. The Boat Race The club races against the Cambridge University Boat Club in The Boat Race on the Thames in London each year, with the Oxford boat based at the Westminster School Boat Club. The club also selects a reserve crew, Isis, to race the Cambridge reserve crew, Goldie, earlier on Boat Race day. OUBC was one of five clubs which retained the right until 2012 to appoint representatives to the Council of British Rowing. James Foad
James Foad (born 20 March 1987) is an English rower. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London he was part of the British crew that won the bronze medal in the men's eight. He was the 2015 European Champion in the men's pair, along with Matt Langridge. Biography James started rowing at the age of 11 at Itchen Rowing Club, following in his father's footsteps. By the time he was 17 he had won the Junior Sculls Championships for the Hants and Dorset region and was the youngest person to win this. The following year he trialled for the GB Junior Team and was selected to row in the M4+ at the World Junior Championships in Brandenburg. George Nash (rower)
George Christopher Nash (born 2 October 1989) is a British rower. He is dual Olympian, dual Olympic medal winner and three time world champion. Education Nash attended Lanesborough School in Guildford and Winchester College, where he was Vice-Captain of the Boat Club. He then studied Engineering at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge, where he was a member of the Cambridge University Boat Club. Nash initially rowed in the Cambridge reserve boat, Goldie, in 2009. He rowed in Cambridge's Blue Boat in the 2010 and 2011 Boat Races, winning in 2010 and losing in 2011. He took the 2011–2012 year off from Cambridge in order to focus on the 2012 Summer Olympics.
