2013 Atlanta Silverbacks Season
The 2013 season was the Atlanta Silverbacks's seventeenth season of existence, and their third consecutive season playing in the North American Soccer League, the second division of the American soccer pyramid. Background The Atlanta Silverbacks' 2012 season was a tale of two halves. In their first 15 games they only managed 8 points, through 1 win, 5 draws and 9 losses. In their final 13 games they gather 22 points in 6 wins, 4 draws and 3 losses (a league best). They had mixed results in U.S. Open Cup, winning their first match against fourth division opponent Georgia Revolution 1–0. Then losing to MLS side Seattle Sounders FC 5-1 a week later. On May 2, 2012 first-year head coach Alex Pineda Chacón was replaced by interim head coach Eric Wynalda. Wynalda announced Brian Haynes would replace him as head coach. Atlanta Silverbacks
The Atlanta Silverbacks FC were an American professional soccer club based in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1998 as Atlanta Ruckus, the club played in many leagues over the years before folding after the 2015 season. The team played its home games at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, a large soccer complex featuring a 5,000-seat soccer-specific stadium in Atlanta, 15 miles northeast of downtown. The team's colors were red, black, grey, and white. The club had 2 independent supporter groups, Westside 109 and the Atlanta Ultras. The Ultras were established in 2011 & were known to support both the Silverbacks men's and women's side. The Ultras were also to be known for their fanatical support at Silverbacks Park, as well as away matches. They had a reputation for their unfriendly or challenging attitude towards fans from opposing clubs. Mike Randolph
Michael Horace Randolph (born December 3, 1985) is an American soccer player. Career College and Amateur Randolph attended Canyon Hills Junior High, where he played basketball, and Ruben S. Ayala High School. He is said to be one of the best soccer players to ever attend Ayala High School. Randolph played for Yavapai College in Arizona, where he was named the ACCAC player of the year. Randolph had been recruited at UCLA but did not meet academic requirements at the time. In 2004, he helped the Roughriders to a 23–2 record and its 16th consecutive Arizona Community College Athletic Conference championship. Randolph, the 2004 ACCAC Player of the Year, helped Yavapai reach the National Semifinals but could not advance to the championship and defend the back-to-back titles the team had won in 2002 and 2003.
