2013 Abilene Christian Wildcats Football Team
The 2013 Abilene Christian Wildcats football team represented Abilene Christian University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by second-year head coach Ken Collums, the Wildcats compiled a record of 6–5. Abilene Christian played their home games at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene, Texas. Abilene Christian played their first transition season at the FCS level in 2013, however, they were not considered a FCS team for scheduling purposes until 2014 and were ineligible for the NCAA Division I Football Championship playoffs and the NCAA Division II Football Championship playoffs. Ken Collums
Kenneth Layne Collums (born September 15, 1972) is an American college football coach and former player. He is the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at the University of Central Arkansas, a position he has held since 2018. Collums served as the head football coach at Abilene Christian University from 2012 to 2016, compiling a record of 24–32. Prior to his promotion to head coach, for seven seasons he was the Wildcats' offensive coordinator. As a student-athlete, Collums was a four-year starting quarterback for the Central Arkansas, leading the Central Arkansas Bears football, Bears to the NAIA Football National Championship, NAIA Division I Football Championship in 1991. Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium is a stadium in San Antonio, Texas. It is the home field for the men's and women's soccer, track and field, and American football teams of the University of the Incarnate Word. The stadium currently seats 6,000 people. It is named after Tom Benson and his wife Gayle. Record stadium attendance of 6,498 was recorded in a game vs Houston Baptist on November 17, 2016. 2013 Incarnate Word Cardinals Football Team
The 2013 Incarnate Word Cardinals football team represented the University of the Incarnate Word in the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Cardinals played their first season of a transition to the FCS level. However, they were not considered a FCS team for scheduling purposes until 2014. They were led by second-year head coach Larry Kennan. Home games were played at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium. This was a transition season for the Cardinals. As a transitioning school from D2 to D1, the Cardinals were ineligible for the FCS Playoffs and the D2 playoffs. They played a mixed schedule of schools from the FCS, NAIA, and D-II.
