The 2012–13 A-League, 2012–13 season was the Wellington Phoenix FC, Wellington Phoenix's sixth season in the A-League Men, A-League. Many pegged the club to be a strong contender in the 2012–13 A-League, 2012–13 season, but the Phoenix finished in last place with points equal to Melbourne City FC, Melbourne Heart, but with an inferior goal difference. Wellington Phoenix Football Club is a professional association football club based in Wellington, New Zealand. It competes in the Australian A-League, under licence from Football Federation Australia. Phoenix entered the competition in the 2007–08 season after its formation in March 2007, by New Zealand Football to replace New Zealand Knights as a New Zealand-based club in the Australian A-League competition. The club is one of the few clubs in the world to compete in a league of a different confederation ( AFC) from that of the country where it is based ( OFC). Leonida Christos Bertos (born 20 December 1981) is a New Zealand professional footballer who last played as a midfielder for Hamilton Olympic in the National Premier Leagues. Leo Bertos is currently the head coach of Northern NSW NPL side Weston Bears FC A New Zealand international from 2003 to 2013, he represented his country at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. James Downey (born 19 October 1987 in Gympie, Queensland, Australia) is an Australian footballer who currently plays for Ballarat Red Devils in the National Premier Leagues Victoria Division 1. Club career Downey was with the Queensland Academy of Sport between 2003 and 2004 before joining the Australian Institute of Sport in 2005. Benjamin Robert Sigmund (born 3 February 1981) is a New Zealand former international footballer. He represented New Zealand at under-17, under-20 and senior level. Vince Lia (born 18 March 1985) is an Australian professional football (soccer) player who plays for Altona Magic in the National Premier Leagues Victoria. Born in Shepparton, Lia played youth football in Victoria before making his senior debut with South Melbourne in the National Soccer League. Louis Ferenc Puskas Fenton (born 3 April 1993) is a New Zealand professional footballer who plays for National Premier Leagues Queensland club Lions FC. Cameron Melrose Lindsay (born 21 December 1992) is a New Zealand footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Tasman United in the New Zealand Football Championship. Ian Campbell Hogg (born 15 December 1989) is a New Zealand footballer who is currently playing for Waitakere United in the ASB Premiership. He has represented New Zealand at the Olympic Games on two occasions, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. Mirjan Pavlović (born 21 April 1989) is an Australian soccer player who last played for Sydney United 58 FC Career Pavlović was born in Lika, SR Croatia and moved to Australia when he was five years old. A-League Men (known as the Isuzu UTE A-League for sponsorship reasons) is the highest-level professional men's soccer league in Australia and New Zealand. At the top of the Australian league system, it is the country's premier men's competition for the sport.
