Newcastle Jets FC
Newcastle United Jets Football Club, commonly known as Newcastle Jets, is an Australian professional soccer club based in Newcastle, New South Wales. It competes in the country's premier competition, the A-League, under licence from The Australian Professional Leagues (APL). formerly under licence by Football Australia. The club was formed in 2000 when it joined the National Soccer League (NSL) and was one of only three former NSL clubs to join in the formation of the A-League. Newcastle Jets have won one A-League championship, after defeating rivals Central Coast Mariners 1–0 in the 2008 A-League Grand Final. In 2009, Newcastle competed in the AFC Champions League for the first time, reaching the Round of 16. Ben Kantarovski
Benjamin Kantarovski ( mk, Бенјамин Кантаровски) (born 20 January 1992) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder. Ben is the older brother of former Newcastle Jets FC player Michael Kantarovski. He holds the current record of A League appearances for the Newcastle Jets. Club career Newcastle Jets Kantarovski was signed to a four-year contract by the Newcastle Jets in January 2008 while attending Lambton High School at only 15 years of age, making him the youngest player in A-League history to sign a full-time A-League contract, and one of the youngest players in world football to do so. Mark Birighitti
Mark Romano Birighitti (born 17 April 1991) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Scottish Premiership side Dundee United. Born in Perth, Birighitti played youth football at the Australian Institute of Sport before making his professional debut for Adelaide United. In 2012, he moved to Newcastle Jets and spent time on loan to Italian club Varese in 2015. In 2016, Birighitti left Newcastle to again move to Europe, firstly with Swansea City and then NAC Breda. He returned to the A-League in 2018 with Melbourne City before moving to Central Coast Mariners a year later. He then signed for Dundee United in 2022. Michael Bridges
Michael Bridges (born 5 August 1978) is an English professional football manager and retired former player. As a player, he was a striker who notably played in the Premier League for Sunderland, Leeds United and Newcastle United, as well as a brief spell in the top flight for Bolton Wanderers that yielded no appearances. He also played in the Football League for Bristol City, Carlisle United, Hull City and Milton Keynes Dons as well as playing in Australia with Sydney FC, Newcastle Jets and Lambton Jaffas. Jacob Scott Pepper (born 8 May 1992) is an Australian professional soccer player who currently plays for Edgeworth Eagles FC as a defensive midfielder. Career Newcastle Jets On 18 December 2010, Pepper made his senior debut in a 4–0 loss to Wellington Phoenix. On 14 February 2012 it was announced he had signed a two-year contract extension with Newcastle Jets. James Virgili
James Robert Virgili (born 8 July 1992) is an Australian retired professional soccer player who last played for Newcastle Jets in the A-League. Newcastle Jets On 4 January 2009, he made his senior debut as a substitute against Wellington Phoenix. This also made him the youngest player in A-League history to make his debut at 16 years and 180 days. Virgili broke into the first team in the 2012/13 Hyundai A-League season. He became a regular starter known for his high speed and his ability to get past players with his dribbling and ball control. Taylor Francis George Regan (born 16 November 1988) is an Australian football (soccer) player who plays as a defender for Charlestown Azzurri. Career Newcastle Jets Regan joined the Jets as part of the youth system in 2008 from state league club Azzurri FC. He captained the team and played primarily as a center back. Bernardo Ribeiro
Bernardo Salim Ribeiro (9 October 19897 May 2016) was a Brazilian footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. As a young player he moved to Europe, where he played in Italy, Albania (where he won the national championship of 2012 with Skënderbeu Korçë), and Finland. He also played in the Australian first division. Upon returning to Brazil, he died in the aftermath of a match for an amateur club after suffering cardiac arrest.
