2012–13 Serie A
The 2012–13 Serie A (known as the Serie A TIM for sponsorship reasons) was the 111th season of top-tier Italian football, the 81st in a round-robin tournament, and the 3rd since its organization under a league committee separate from Serie B. It began on 25 August 2012 and ended on 19 May 2013. Juventus were the defending champions. A total of 20 teams contested the league, comprising 17 sides from the 2011–12 season and three promoted from the 2011–12 Serie B. As in the previous years, Nike provided the official ball for all matches, with a new Nike Maxim Serie A model to be used throughout the season for all matches. On 21 August 2012, FIGC allowed Serie A teams to have up to 12 substitution players on the bench for each game. The Serie A (), also called Serie A TIM for national sponsorship with TIM, is a professional league competition for football clubs located at the top of the Italian football league system and the winner is awarded the Scudetto and the Coppa Campioni d'Italia. It has been operating as a round-robin tournament for over ninety years since the 1929–30 season. It had been organized by the Direttorio Divisioni Superiori until 1943 and the Lega Calcio until 2010, when the Lega Serie A was created for the 2010–11 season. Serie A is regarded as one of the best football leagues in the world and it is often depicted as the most tactical and defensively sound national league. The 2012–13 Coppa Italia Lega Pro was the 41st edition of the competition that involving teams from Lega Pro in Italian football. Format and Seeding Teams entered the competition at various stages, as follows: * Group phase: the 42 clubs that not take place to 2012–13 Coppa Italia will be divided into 14 groups of 3 teams. Coppa Italia Lega Pro
Coppa Italia Serie C ( it, Serie C Italian Cup), formerly named Coppa Italia Lega Pro, is a straight knock-out based competition involving teams from Serie C in Italian football first held in 1972. Format There are a total of six rounds in the competition. It begins in August with the first set, which is contested by 56 out of 60 teams. The other four clubs, which also play in Coppa Italia, join in during the second set. Each game is played as a single leg, except for the semi-finals and the final. If teams are tied (after single leg or on aggregate, no away goal rule applies), the winner is decided by extra-time and a penalty shootout if required. As well as being presented with the trophy, the winning team also qualifies for the following edition of Coppa Italia and for the third round of Serie C promotion play-offs. Aurora Pro Patria 1919, commonly referred to as Pro Patria, is an Italian football club based in Busto Arsizio, Lombardy. It currently plays in Serie C. Away Goals Rule
The away goals rule is a method of tiebreaker, tiebreaking in association football and other sports when teams play each other twice, once at each team's home ground. Under the away goals rule, if the total goals scored by each team are equal, the team that has scored more goals "Road (sports), away from home" wins. This is sometimes expressed by saying that away goals "count double" in the event of a tie, though in practice the team with more away goals is simply recorded as the victor, rather than having additional or 'double' goals added to their total. The away goals rule is most often invoked in two-legged tie, two-leg fixtures, where the initial result is determined by the aggregate score — i.e. the scores of both games are added together. The Serie B (), currently named Serie Balkrishna Industries, BKT for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest division in the Italian football league system after the Serie A.
