2012–13 Fairfield Stags Men's Basketball Team
The 2012–13 Fairfield Stags men's basketball team represented Fairfield University during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Stags, led by second year head coach Sydney Johnson, played their home games at Webster Bank Arena and were members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 19–16, 9–9 in a tie for sixth place. They advanced to the semifinals of the MAAC tournament where they lost to Manhattan. They were invited to the 2013 CIT where they lost in the first round to Kent State. Sydney Johnson
Sydney Johnson (born April 26, 1974) is an American college basketball coach and the former head coach at Fairfield University for the Fairfield Stags men's basketball team. Previously, Johnson was the head coach at Princeton University from 2007 to 2011 where he led the Princeton Tigers men's basketball team to the 2011 Ivy League Title and the 2011 NCAA tournament. A 1997 Princeton alumnus, Johnson played for the Tigers from 1993 to 1997. As a player, he was a member of the 1995–96 Ivy League champions and undefeated (in conference) 1996–97 Princeton Tigers. He earned Ivy League Men's Basketball Player of the Year recognition for the undefeated 1997 team. He continues to hold the Ivy League record for consecutive three point shots made and the league record for most single-game three point shots made without a miss as well as the Princeton Tigers record for career steals. Maurice Barrow
Maurice Barrow (born January 15, 1992) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for Fairfield University before playing professionally in Austria and Australia. High school career Barrow attended Christ the King Regional High School in Queens, New York. As a junior in 2008–09, he led Christ the King to the CHSAA Class AA intersectional championship by tallying a double double in the decisive game. He scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the contest, which tied his scoring high in 2008–09. As a senior in 2009–10, he averaged 12.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He capped his final season with several awards, including the CHSAA Class AA championship game most valuable player. Chase Family Arena at Reich Family Pavilion, commonly called the Sports Center or the Reich Family Pavilion, is a 4,017-seat multi-purpose arena in West Hartford, Connecticut. Home to the University of Hartford Hawks men's and women's basketball teams, the arena opened on January 25, 1990, and was dedicated to the Chase family and the Reich family, both of West Hartford, in 1998 and 2004, respectively. The University of Bridgeport (UB) is a private university in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The university is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education. In 2021, the university was purchased by Goodwin University; it retain its own name, brand, and board of trustees. Founded originally as the Junior College of Connecticut, it is the only university in Bridgeport and one of the largest in Connecticut.
