2012–13 Australian Bushfire Season
The summer of 2012–13, had above average fire potential for most of the southern half of the continent from the east coast to the west. This is despite having extensive fire in parts of the country over the last 12 months. The reason for this prediction is the abundant grass growth spurred by two La Niña events over the last two years. Most parts of the country experienced a heat wave at the start of 2013, with a new national average maximum being set on 7 January 2013. The new record of beat the old record of that had been set on 21 December 1972. Another record also beaten in 2013 was Australia's mean temperature climbing from set on 21 December 1972 to on 7 January 2013. Additionally, six of the 20 hottest days in Australian records (by average maximum) have been in January 2013. Murdunna
Murdunna is a rural locality in the local government area (LGA) of Tasman in the South-east LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about north-east of the town of Nubeena. The 2016 census recorded a population of 309 for the state suburb of Murdunna. It is a small town at the head of King George Sound, a narrow bay opening off Norfolk Bay. Murdunna is approximately halfway down the Forestier Peninsula on the Arthur Highway to Port Arthur. It is around 6 metres (20 feet) above sea level. Population increases in the summer months, and it is becoming increasingly popular with people from Hobart who are looking for weekend getaways. Many houses are owned by non-residents who use them as holiday homes. The name Murdunna is believed to come from a local Aborginal word meaning "place of the stars". Dunalley is a rural / residential locality in the local government areas (LGA) of Sorell (37%) and Tasman (63%) in the South-east LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about south-east of the town of Sorell. The 2016 census recorded a population of 316 for the state suburb of Dunalley. It is a small fishing village on the east coast of Tasmania. Sorell Council is a local government body in Tasmania, situated in the south-east of the state. The Sorell local government area is classified as rural and has a population of 15,218, the major centres of the region include Dodges Ferry, Dunalley, Primrose Sands and the principal town of Sorell.
