2012–13 Alloa Athletic F.C. Season
The 2012–13 season was Alloa Athletic's first season back in the Scottish Second Division, having been promoted from the Scottish Third Division at the end of season 2011–12. Alloa also competed in the Challenge Cup, Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup. Summary Season Alloa finished second in the Scottish Second Division, entering the play-offs defeating Dunfermline Athletic 3–1 on aggregate in the final and were promoted to the Scottish First Division. Alloa (Received Pronunciation ; educated Scottish pronunciation /ˈaloʊa/; gd, Alamhagh, possibly meaning "rock plain") is a town in Clackmannanshire in the Central Lowlands of Scotland. It is on the north bank of the Forth at the spot where some say it ceases to be the River Forth and becomes the Firth of Forth. Alloa is south of the Ochil Hills, east of Stirling and north of Falkirk; by water Alloa is from Granton. The town, formerly a burgh of barony, is the administrative centre of Clackmannanshire Council. Historically, the economy relied heavily on trade between Glasgow and mainland Europe through its port. This became increasingly uncompetitive and the port stopped operating in 1970. The Scottish Football League Third Division was the fourth tier of the Scottish football league system between 1994 and 2013. History The Scottish football league system had operated with three divisions in the Scottish Football League (SFL) from 1975. In 1994, as part of reconstruction to allow the admission of Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County to the league, the SFL was recalibrated to give four divisions of 10 teams. The fourth tier was named the Third Division. In 1998, the Premier Division (top flight) clubs broke away to form the Scottish Premier League (SPL). The Third Division continued as the fourth tier of the league system, but was now the third tier of the SFL. In 2013, the SFL and SPL merged to form the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL). Aaron Sinclair
Aaron Taylor-Sinclair (born 8 April 1991) is a professional footballer who plays as a left sided central defender for Airdrieonians in the Scottish Championship. Born in Scotland, he plays for the Antigua and Barbuda national team. Taylor-Sinclair started his career at Aberdeen as a youth player, having been scouted by the club at age ten. Steven Lawless (born 12 April 1991) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a left-sided winger, and is in his second spell with Partick Thistle. Lawless, who is a product of Motherwell's youth system, started his professional career at Fir Park. However, he failed to break into the club's first team, and was eventually loaned to Annan Athletic and later Albion Rovers. Following an extended loan period at Rovers, Lawless joined Partick Thistle in 2012, where he played a significant part in helping Thistle to achieve promotion to the Scottish Premiership in 2013.
