2012 Winton Motor Raceway V8 Supercar Event
The 2012 Winton Motor Raceway V8 Supercar event was a motor race for the Australian sedan-based V8 Supercars racing cars. It was the fourteenth event of the 2012 International V8 Supercars Championship. It was held on the weekend of 16-18 November at the Winton Motor Raceway near Benalla, Victoria. Triple Eight Race Engineering won both races, with Jamie Whincup winning on Saturday and Craig Lowndes winning on Sunday. Whincup overcame a drive-through penalty in the second race to finish on the podium. Benalla
Benalla is a small city located on the Broken River gateway to the High Country north-eastern region of Victoria, Australia, about north east of the state capital Melbourne. At the the population was 10,822. It is the administrative centre for the Rural City of Benalla local government area. Winton Motor Raceway
Winton Motor Raceway is a motor racing track in Winton, near Benalla, Victoria, Australia. History The Benalla Auto Club began planning for a permanent racing track around 1958, as a replacement for their existing track at Barjarg. In 1960 it was decided to build the track at Winton Recreation Reserve and the track was completed in twelve months. The circuit hosted its first race meeting on 26 November 1961. The circuit was immediately popular - a March 1965 meeting featuring the Neptune touring car and the Victorian Formula Two championship drew a crowd of approximately 10,000 spectators. The circuit length was extended prior to the 1997 round of the V8 Supercar championship and the upgrade included a new pit complex. 2012 Sydney Telstra 500
The 2012 Sydney Telstra 500 was a motor race for the Australian sedan-based V8 Supercars racing cars. It was the fifteenth and final event of the 2012 International V8 Supercars Championship. It was held on the weekend of 30 November–2 December at the Homebush Street Circuit in Sydney, New South Wales. Craig Lowndes became the first driver to win two races at the circuit, winning on Saturday after first-time pole-sitter Tim Slade made a mistake late in the race. Will Davison gave Ford Performance Racing a strong finish to the year, winning the second race. James Courtney found form, finishing on the podium in both races. Series champion Jamie Whincup finished fifth in both races. The 2012 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi (V8) Grand Prix was a motor race for the Australian sedan-based V8 Supercars racing cars. It was the thirteenth event of the 2012 International V8 Supercars Championship. It was held on the weekend of 2–4 November at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Stone Brothers Racing (SBR) was an Australian motor racing team that competed in the International V8 Supercars Championship between 1998 and 2012. The team was formed in 1998 when Ross and Jim Stone bought Alan Jones's shares in Alan Jones Racing and renamed it Stone Brothers Racing. The team won the Bathurst 1000 in its debut year with Jason Bright and Steven Richards. It won the 2003 and 2004 championships with Marcos Ambrose and the 2005 championship with Russell Ingall. Shane Robert van Gisbergen (born 9 May 1989) is a New Zealand racing driver in the Supercars Championship racing in the Number 97 Holden ZB Commodore car for Triple Eight Race Engineering. William 'THE SOOK' Davison (born 30 August 1982) is an Australian professional racing driver. 2012 International V8 Supercars Championship
The 2012 International V8 Supercar Championship (often simplified to the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship) was an FIA sanctioned international motor racing series for V8 Supercars. It was the fourteenth running of the V8 Supercar Championship Series and the sixteenth series in which V8 Supercars have contested the premier Australian touring car title.
