Vietnamese National Football Super Cup ( vi, Siêu cúp bóng đá Việt Nam), also called the Thaco National Football Super Cup due to sponsorship reasons, is Vietnamese football's annual match contested between the champions of the previous V.League 1 season and the holders of the Vietnamese Cup. If the V.League 1 champions also won the Vietnamese Cup, then the league runners-up provide the opposition. The current holders are Vietnamese Cup winners Hanoi FC, who defeated V.League 1 winners Viettel 1–0 in the 2020 match. Vietnamese Cup
Vietnamese National Football Cup ( vi, Giải Bóng đá Cúp Quốc Gia Việt Nam), now officially recognized as the BaF Meat National Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a Vietnamese football competition. It is one of the most important club competitions in Vietnam. The Vietnamese Cup was first held in 1992. Cảng Sài Gòn was the first cup winners. Format Entry is open to all teams that compete in the V.League 1 (Champions League) and the V.League 2 (First League). The two teams that reach the final are exempt from the preliminary rounds of next year's competition. The cup winners qualify for the AFC Cup (relative equivalent of the UEFA Europa League). Vietnamese National Cup winner will be also qualified for a single match of the Vietnamese Super Cup against the V.League 1 champion. 2012 V-League
The 2012 V-League season is the 56th season of Vietnam's professional football league and started on 31 December 2011 and finished on 19 August 2012. On 15 December it was announced that the league would change name and would simply be known as the Premier League. Then, it was changed name to Super League. Teams Đồng Tâm Long An were relegated to the 2012 Vietnamese First Division after finishing the 2011 season in the bottom two after a season of upheaval and numerous coaches hired and fired. It was a far fall from grace for the two-time champions. Hà Nội ACB were also relegated after finishing bottom, but later merged with Hòa Phát Hà Nội to retain their place in the top flight. They were also renamed to Hà Nội. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). Sebastián Gastón Merlo (born 26 January 1985 in Jovita, Córdoba, Argentina), also referred to as Đỗ Merlo (in Vietnamese), is an Argentine-Vietnamese former footballer who played as a striker, most notably for SHB Đà Nẵng. Club career Merlo was one of the best goalscorers in the V-League (Vietnam). He won the league's top scorer award three times in a row from 2009 to 2011. The V.League 1 ( vi, Giải bóng đá vô địch quốc gia, lit=National Football League), also called Night Wolf V.League 1 due to sponsorship reasons, is the top professional football league in Vietnam, controlled by the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company. It is contested by 14 clubs who play each other on a home and away basis. The team finishing at the top at the end of the season is crowned the champion and enters the AFC Champions League.
