2012 UMass Minutemen Football Team
The 2012 UMass Minutemen football team represented the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season as a member of the Mid-American Conference. The team was coached by Charley Molnar and played its home games at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The 2012 season was the team's first as a member of the MAC, as they continued their transition to NCAA Division I FBS play. Because of this, they were ineligible to participate in the conference championship. However, according to an August 2, 2012 ruling by the NCAA UMass would have been eligible to participate in a bowl game if they achieved at least 6 wins, and there were not enough spots to fill all bowl games. Charley Molnar
Charley Molnar Jr. (born July 23, 1961) is an American football coach. Molnar served head football coach at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass), for two seasons, from 2012 to 2013, compiling a record of 2–22. Molnar had previously been the offensive coordinator at the University of Notre Dame. Coaching career Early positions Molnar began his coaching career at his alma mater Lock Haven University from 1984 to 1986, working with the wide receivers, tight ends, running backs and placekickers. He made his first entry into major college football as a graduate assistant at Virginia from 1987 to 1988. While with the Cavaliers, he assisted the quarterbacks coach. Molnar then called the offensive plays and coached quarterbacks at Western Carolina in 1989. Waldo Stadium
Waldo Stadium is a stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It is primarily used for football, and has been the home of Western Michigan University Broncos football in rudimentary form since 1914, and as a complete stadium since 1939. It currently has a capacity of 30,200 spectators. History The stadium was built at a cost of $250,000 ($4.3 million in 2016), and it opened in 1939 with a 6–0 win over Miami University. The 2012 Western Michigan Broncos football team represented Western Michigan University in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by eighth-year head coach Bill Cubit and played their home games at Waldo Stadium as a member of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). In 2011, the Broncos finished at 7–6 (5–3 MAC), third place in the MAC West division. Western Michigan fired Cubit on November 17, 2012, following a season-ending loss to Eastern Michigan. The 2012 Ohio Bobcats football team represented Ohio University in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by eighth-year head coach Frank Solich and played their home games at Peden Stadium. They were a member of the East Division of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). After defeating Akron on October 13 to become 7–0 the Bobcats were ranked #25 in the AP Poll; Ohio had not been ranked nationally since 1968. On October 21, 2012, the Bobcats peaked at #23 in both the Coaches Poll and AP Poll, and #24 in the BCS standings. Yager Stadium (Miami University)
Fred C. Yager Stadium is a football stadium in Oxford, Ohio, United States. It is home to the Miami University RedHawks football team. It has a capacity of 24,286 spectators, and was built in 1983. It replaced Miami Field, which had been used since 1895 (the stands had been built in 1916) and was the home field for many of the coaches who had made the school famous. The stadium is named for Fred C. Yager, class of 1914, who was the lead benefactor in the project to build the stadium.
