The championship began on 30 June 2012 and ended on 14 October 2012. Drom-Inch were the defending champions. On 14 October 2012, Thurles Sarsfields won the championship after a 1–21 to 2–15 defeat of Drom-Inch in the final at Semple Stadium. It was their 32nd championship title overall and their first title since 2010. Thurles Sarsfields is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. Pádraic Maher (born 9 February 1989) is an Irish former Hurling, hurler who previously played for Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, Tipperary Senior Championship club Thurles Sarsfields GAA, Thurles Sarsfields and at inter-county level with the Tipperary senior hurling team. He usually lined out as a centre-back. Playing career Thurles CBS Maher first came to prominence as a hurler with Thurles CBS. He played in every grade before eventually joining the senior hurling team as a 15-year-old. The Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the FBD Insurance Tipperary County Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Tipperary County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1887 for the top hurling teams in the county of Tipperary in Ireland.
