2012 The Dominion Tankard
The 2012 Dominion Tankard, Southern Ontario men's provincial curling championship, was held from February 6 to 12, hosted by the Stratford Country Club at the Stratford Rotary Complex in Stratford, Ontario. The winning team of Glenn Howard, will represent Ontario at the 2012 Tim Hortons Brier in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Stratford, Ontario
Stratford is a city on the Avon River within Perth County in southwestern Ontario, Canada, with a 2016 population of 31,465 in a land area of . Stratford is the seat of Perth County, which was settled by English, Irish, Scottish and German immigrants, in almost equal numbers, starting in the 1820s but primarily in the 1830s and 1840s. Most became farmers; even today, the area around Stratford is known for mixed farming, dairying and hog production. The area was settled in 1832, and the town and river were named after Stratford-upon-Avon, England. Stratford was incorporated as a town in 1859 and as a city in 1886. The first mayor was John Corry Wilson Daly and the current mayor is Dan Mathieson. The swan has become a symbol of the city. Each year twenty-four white swans are released into the Avon River. Mike Anderson (curler)
Michael Anderson (born February 4, 1985) is a Canadian curler from Markham, Ontario. He is a Canadian University champion. Career Anderson is most notable for leading the Laurier Golden Hawks men's curling team to a national university championship in 2008. This qualified the rink to represent Canada at the 2009 Winter Universiade. The team finished in 6th place, with a 4–5 record. Rich Moffatt
Richard Moffatt2017 Brier Media Guide: Previous Rosters (born 1959) is a Canadian curler from Ottawa, Ontario. In 1999, he became only the third curler to skip an Ottawa-area team at the Brier. Moffatt began curling in 1973 after quitting ice hockey. As a junior curler, he made it to the playoffs of the 1981 Ontario Junior Curling Championships. He played in his first Ontario men's championship in 1988 throwing third rocks for Rick Bachand. Moffatt skipped his own team for much of his career. In 1999, he finally won the Ontario men's championship, qualifying him for the 1999 Labatt Brier. At the Brier, his rink from the Rideau Curling Club finished with a 6-5 record. Moffatt retired from curling in 2007, but quickly changed his mind and came back to play for Bryan Cochrane. He played with Cochrane until 2012. Bryan Cochrane
Bryan Cochrane (born October 9, 1957 in Winchester, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Russell, Ontario. Cochrane is most notable for winning the 2019 World Senior Curling Championships for Canada, and skipping team Ontario at the 2003 Nokia Brier and later team PEI at the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier. Curling career After repeatedly making it to provincial championships, and failing to win, finally Cochrane in 2003 became only the fourth Ottawa-based team to play in the Brier. Cochrane, playing out of the RCMP Curling Club at the time, and his team of Bill Gamble, Ian MacAulay and John Steski defeated Peter Corner in the provincial final. Rideau Lakes is a township (Canada), township located within Leeds and Grenville United Counties in Eastern Ontario, Canada. The township was incorporated on 1 January 1998 by amalgamating the former townships of North Crosby, South Crosby, Bastard, South Burgess and South Elmsley with the village of Newboro. Loonie Curling Club
The loonie (french: huard), formally the Canadian one-dollar coin, is a gold-coloured Canadian coin that was introduced in 1987 and is produced by the Royal Canadian Mint at its facility in Winnipeg. The most prevalent versions of the coin show a common loon, a bird found throughout Canada, on the reverse and Queen Elizabeth II, the nation's head of state at the time of the coin's issue, on the obverse. Various commemorative and specimen-set editions of the coin with special designs replacing the loon on the reverse have been minted over the years. The coin's outline is an 11-sided Reuleaux polygon. Its diameter of 26.5 mm and its 11-sidedness matched that of the already-circulating Susan B. Anthony dollar in the United States, and its thickness of 1.95 mm was a close match to the latter's 2.0 mm. Jason Boyce is a retired professional American soccer forward who played professionally in Major League Soccer and the USL A-League. He has four children, Jayson, Melia, Grace and Samuel Boyce. He coaches youth soccer for Pateadores, Newport/Costa Mesa 04 and 03. As well as the Women's Varsity soccer coach at Costa Mesa High School. Gregory Balsdon (born October 9, 1977) is a Canadian curler from North York, Ontario. He currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Curling career Balsdon was born in Toronto, Ontario. In 1995, Balsdon won the Ontario Schoolboy championship for his Don Mills Collegiate Institute team. In 1996, he won the provincial junior mixed title. Balsdon skips one of the top teams in Ontario. As of 2019, Balsdon has played in 13 provincial championships. He first played at the provincials in 1999, playing for John Base (4th place). He left the Base rink in 2000 to form his own team.
