2012 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup
The 2012 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup season was the sixth season of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. The season began at Circuito de Jerez on 28 April and ended on 30 September at MotorLand Aragón after 15 races. The races, contested by the riders on equal KTM 125cc machinery for the last season before switching to the 250cc 4-stroke Moto3 bikes for 2013, were held at eight meetings on the Grand Prix motorcycle racing calendar. German rider Florian Alt won the championship, securing the title with a third place in the first Aragon race. Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup
The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup is a motorcycle racing series contested by young, up-and-coming motorcycle riders, who have not had experience in a motorcycle grand prix previously. The class was founded in 2007, and since then a number of the rookies have progressed through to the 125cc/Moto3 championship in MotoGP. Prior to the 2013 season, a 2-stroke KTM RC 125cc engine was used. The year 2013 saw a change of machinery to the 4-stroke KTM RC250RBR, following the introduction of the four-stroke Moto3 class. The Spaniard José Antonio Rueda was the first racer to win the Cup title and his first World Championship title in the same year (2022). Karel Hanika
Karel Hanika (born 14 April 1996) is a motorcycle racer from the Czech Republic. He is the 2013 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup champion and the 2013 European Moto3 champion. He currently competes in the Alpe Adria International Road Race Superbike Championship, aboard a BMW S1000RR. In 2014 and 2015, Hanika raced for the Ajo Motorsport team in the Moto3 world championship. After two crash-filled seasons, he was dropped by Ajo and switched to Mahindra for the 2016 campaign. However, after failing to score a single point in seven races he was fired mid-season and replaced by Moto3 returnee Danny Webb. Jorge Martín Almoguera (born 29 January 1998), nicknamed the Martinator, is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer riding for Pramac Racing. In 2021 Martín moved up to the premier class with Pramac Racing, and won the 2021 Styrian motorcycle Grand Prix, as well as securing three pole positions in his first seven entries, four total in his rookie campaign. He is best known for winning the 2018 Moto3 World Championship with Gresini Racing, and was also the 2014 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup champion. Bradley Ray (born 16 May 1997 in Ashford, Kent, England is a British motorcycle racer. After winning the 2022 BSB Championship, for 2023 Ray is contracted to ride in European rounds of World Superbikes. In November 2020 Ray joined the OMG Racing team for the 2021 season, and was contracted to ride for the same team during 2022, switching from BMW to Yamaha machinery as used in 2021 by the McAMS team. In November 2019 Ray confirmed that he would join Taylor Mackenzie at TAS BMW for the 2020 British Superbike Championship season. The Sachsenring () is a motorsport racing circuit located in Hohenstein-Ernstthal near Chemnitz in Saxony, Germany. Among other events, it features the annual German motorcycle Grand Prix of the FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing world championship. History The first race was held on 26 May 1927 on an layout on public roads, running also through the village of Hohenstein-Ernstthal itself. It was dubbed "Sachsenring" in 1937. Livio Loi
Livio Loi (born 27 April 1997 in Hasselt) is a Belgian professional Grand Prix motorcycle racer. He competed in the Moto3 World Championship in and the first half of the season for the Marc VDS Racing Team, before being replaced by Jorge Navarro. In 2015, Loi returned to the series with RW Racing GP. After scoring 15 points in the first half of the season, Loi achieved his first Grand Prix victory at Indianapolis; in a wet-to-dry race, Loi started the race on slick tyres, and finished almost 40 seconds clear of the next rider, John McPhee. In 2016, Loi continued with the same team and the same bike as in the 2015 season, finishing all the races during the season, scoring 63 points and an 18th place in the rider's championship. Career Junior career Manzi joined the 2012 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, and had two podiums in his first season already, a 2nd place at the Sachsenring and a 3rd place at Brno.
