Preakness Stakes
The Preakness Stakes is an American thoroughbred horse race held on Armed Forces Day which is also the third Saturday in May each year at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. It is a Grade I race run over a distance of 9.5 furlongs () on dirt. Colts and geldings carry ; fillies . It is the second jewel of the Triple Crown, held two weeks after the Kentucky Derby and three weeks before the Belmont Stakes. First run in 1873, the Preakness Stakes was named by a former Maryland governor after the colt who won the first Dinner Party Stakes at Pimlico. Junior Rafael Alvarado (born May 20, 1986) is a jockey in the sport of Thoroughbred racing who rode his first winner on December 30, 2005, at La Rinconada Hippodrome near Caracas, Venezuela before moving to ride in the United States in 2007 where he got his first winner on February 17 at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Mike Harrington (horse Trainer)
Mike Harrington (born 1964) is an American programmer and businessman. He is the co-founder of the video game company Valve. After the success of the first Valve product, ''Half-Life'' (1998), Harrington left Valve in 2000. In 2006, he co-founded the photo editing service Picnik. Career Harrington was a game programmer at Dynamix and a designer on the Windows NT operating system at Microsoft. In 1996, Harrington founded Valve with Gabe Newell, another former Microsoft employee. Harrington and Newell funded the development of Valve's debut product, ''Half-Life'' (1998), which Harrington also helped program. Joel Rosario (born January 14, 1985) is a Champion jockey in American Thoroughbred horse racing, originally from the Dominican Republic. In the space of five weeks in 2013 he rode the winners of the Dubai World Cup and the Kentucky Derby. More recently, he rode Knicks Go to wins in the Pegasus World Cup, Whitney Stakes, and Breeders' Cup Classic in 2021. Ahmed Zayat (; ar, أحمد الزيات), (born August 31, 1962) is an Egyptian American businessman and owner of Thoroughbred race horses. He is the CEO of Zayat Stables, LLC, a Thoroughbred horse racing business which bred and owns the 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah. Joe Drape of ''The New York Times'' described Zayat as "controversial" and "one of the most successful and flamboyant owners in thoroughbred racing." Bob Baffert
Robert A. Baffert (born January 13, 1953) is an American racehorse trainer who trained the 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah and 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify. Baffert's horses have won a record six Kentucky Derbies, seven Preakness Stakes, three Belmont Stakes, and three Kentucky Oaks. Early life and career Baffert grew up on a ranch in Nogales, Arizona, where his family raised cattle and chickens. Kent Desormeaux
Kent Jason Desormeaux (born February 27, 1970) is an American thoroughbred horse racing Hall of Fame jockey who holds the U.S. record for most races won in a single year with 598 wins in 1989.
