2012 Oceania Women's Sevens Championship
The 2012 Oceania Women's Sevens Championship was the second edition of the Oceania Women's Sevens Championship and also doubled as a qualifier for the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens. It was held from 3–4 August 2012 in Churchill Park, Lautoka, Fiji. Since Australia and New Zealand had already qualified for the World Cup. Fiji as the other highest placing team qualified for the Asia/Oceania final qualifier in Pune, India. 2008 Oceania Women's Sevens Championship
The 2008 Oceania Women's Sevens Championship was the inaugural tournament for the Oceania Women's Sevens Championship and was held in Samoa from 25 to 26 July. The tournament was a regional qualifier for the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens. Australia won the tournament and New Zealand were runners-up. They made history by qualifying for the first ever Rugby World Cup Sevens women's competition. 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens
The 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the sixth edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens. The tournament was held at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia. New Zealand won the tournament, defeating England 33–0 in the final. Attendance for the tournament was poor, with matches played in mostly empty stadiums. World Rugby, then known as the International Rugby Board (IRB), initially stated that the Rugby World Cup Sevens would be scrapped if rugby sevens were to be included in the Olympic programme for the 2016 Summer Olympics. As the International Olympic Committee voted for the sport's inclusion, this was thought likely to be the last edition of the tournament.
