2012 New York Red Bulls Season
The 2012 New York Red Bulls season was the club's 18th year of existence as well as its 17th season in Major League Soccer, the top-flight of American soccer. After a disappointing 2011 season, Red Bulls looked to bounce back to their 2010 form which saw them win the Eastern Conference. In 2011, New York finished fifth place in the conference and tenth overall in MLS, qualifying as the final team for the playoffs. The club lost in the two-legged quarterfinals of the post-season playoffs to the eventual MLS Cup winner Los Angeles Galaxy. Alex Horwath
Alexander Horwath (born March 27, 1987) is a retired American soccer player who played as a goalkeeper. Career College and Amateur Horwath began his youth career with D.C. United, remaining with the youth squad from 2001 to 2003. In 2005, he attended college at the University of Connecticut but did not play due to an injury. In 2007, he transferred to the University of Wisconsin. While with Wisconsin, Horwath established himself as his team's starting goalkeeper, appearing in 52 matches in his three years. Horwath played in the USL Premier Development League during his collegiate career. In 2008, he played for the Northern Virginia Royals and in 2009 with Kansas City Brass. North American Soccer League (2011–2017)
The North American Soccer League (NASL) was a professional men's soccer league based in the United States. The league was named for, but had no connection to, the original North American Soccer League. The later NASL was founded in 2009, and began play in 2011 with eight teams. From 2013 through 2017, the NASL used a split-season schedule running from April to early November, with a four-week break in July. Greg Sutton (soccer)
Greg Sutton (born April 19, 1977) is a Canadian former soccer player and broadcaster. He played as a goalkeeper for several A-League and Major League Soccer teams, including the Montreal Impact and Toronto FC, as well as the Canadian national team. Playing career Youth and college Sutton was born in Canada, but spent a good part of his adolescence playing soccer in Bethel, Connecticut, United States, where his father was transferred as part of his employment. 2011 MLS Re-Entry Draft
The two-stage 2011 MLS Re-Entry Draft took place on December 5, 2011 (Stage 1) and December 12, 2011 (Stage 2). All 19 Major League Soccer clubs participated. The Stage 1 and Stage 2 Drafts were conducted in the same order as the traditional Waiver Draft, with clubs choosing in reverse order of their 2011 Major League Soccer season finish. Carlos Mendes (born December 25, 1980) is an American soccer manager and former player currently serving as head coach of the United States Merchant Marine Academy women's soccer program. He holds American and Portuguese nationality, due to lineage. Early life Mendes grew up in Mineola, New York and attended The Wheatley School. He was voted a high school All-American his senior year. Christopher John Albright (born January 14, 1979) is an American former soccer player and current general manager for FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer. Youth and college Albright attended William Penn Charter School. A forward early in his career, Albright played college soccer at the University of Virginia for two years; he was named an All-American in 1999. Bouna Coundoul (born March 4, 1982) is a Senegalese former professional footballer who currently coaches New Amsterdam FC in the National Independent Soccer Association.
