2012 NASCAR Toyota Series
The 2012 NASCAR Toyota Series was the sixth NASCAR Series and the ninth organized by NASCAR Mexico. It was contested over 14 races. Chihuahua was added to calendar, while Guadalajara which was supposed to return after a one-year hiatus was later cancelled and replaced by Monterrey and Tuxtla Gutiérrez was also removed for the year. Germán Quiroga was the defending Driver's Champion however he left the series to compete in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Teams and drivers 37 drivers competed in the first race. Driver changes * Three time champion Germán Quiroga left the category and his place in the Equipo Telcel. The NASCAR Mexico Series (formerly NASCAR Corona Series and other names) is a NASCAR series in Mexico. It is the most prestigious stock car racing series in the country. Origins (Desafío Corona) The Desafío Corona was established in 2004 by NASCAR Mexico, a joint-venture between NASCAR and Mexican entertainment group OCESA, with the idea of developing stock car racing in Mexico, and fueling a transition from the country's historically Open-wheel car racing fan base to stock car racing. Antonio Pérez Mendoza (born 20 March 1986) is a Mexican retired stock car racing driver. He last competed in the NASCAR Mexico Series, driving the No. 1 Toyota for Jimmy Morales. He is the 2008 NASCAR Corona Series champion. Racing career Pérez began racing full-time in the Corona Series in 2006, winning Rookie of the Year honors. Jorge Arteaga (born March 28, 1986, in Aguascalientes) is a Mexican Auto racing, racing driver and Entrepreneurship, entrepreneur. He competed in the NASCAR Toyota Series. Rogelio López III (born July 29, 1980) is a Mexican racing driver from Aguascalientes. López won the 2006 Desafío Coronachampionship, and went to the United States to drive the No. 03 Telmex/Lucas Oil Dodge in the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series for the 2007 season. He got his first win in the Busch East Series during his rookie season, winning on July 21, 2007, at the Music City Motorplex in Nashville. He eventually went on to finish 7th in the standings with one win, five top-5 finishes, and six top-10 finishes. Carlos Contreras (born June 8, 1970) is a Mexican professional stock car racing driver and crew chief. He was the first Mexico-born driver racing full-time in any NASCAR national series. José Luis Ramírez (born May 8, 1979) is a NASCAR driver.
