2012 Minor Counties Championship
The 2012 Minor Counties Championship was the 108th Minor Counties Cricket Championship season. It was contested through two divisions: Eastern and Western. Cornwall became Minor County Champions for first time. Standings * ''Pld = Played, W = Wins, W1 = Win in match reduced to single innings, L = Losses, L1 = Loss in match reduced to single innings, T = Ties, D = Draws, D1 = Draw in match reduced to single innings, A = Abandonments, Bat = Batting points, Bowl = Bowling points, Ded = Deducted points, Pts = Points, Net RPW = Net runs per wicket (runs per wicket for less runs per wicket against).'' Teams receive 16 points for a win, 4 for a draw, or 8 for the team batting last in a draw with the scores level. Teams also received 12 points for a win, 6 for a draw and 4 points for losing a match reduced to a single innings. Matches abandoned without any play award 8 points to each team. England And Wales Cricket Board
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the Sports governing body, national governing body of cricket in England and Wales. It was formed on 1 January 1997 as a single governing body to combine the roles formerly fulfilled by the Test and County Cricket Board, the National Cricket Association and the Cricket Council. Shropshire County Cricket Club
Shropshire County Cricket Club is one of twenty minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Shropshire. The team is a member of the Minor Counties Championship Western Division and plays in the MCCA Knockout Trophy. Shropshire played List A matches occasionally from 1974 until 2005 but is not classified as a List A team ''per se''. The club plays at Shrewsbury and around the county at Bridgnorth, Oswestry, Shifnal, Wellington, and Whitchurch. Boscawen Park
Boscawen Park is a cricket ground located in recreation grounds along Malpas Road in Truro, Cornwall. The ground is situated directly next to the River Truro, which runs alongside its western side. The end names are the City End to the north and the Malpas End to the south. Alternatively, these ends are also known as the Cathedral End and River End. History Boscawen Park is not located in the Boscawen electoral ward but shares the same name. The name probably originates from Edward Boscawen, an admiral and Member of Parliament from Truro. Established by 1858, a team representative of Cornwall first played there against an All England Eleven in that same year. Cornwall County Cricket Club first used the ground in July 1895, eight months after the club's founding, when it played a friendly against Devon. Shakil Ahmed (born 12 February 1966) is a former Pakistani cricketer who played in one Test cricket, Test match in 1998. A slow left-arm orthodox bowler, Shakeel took 365 wickets at an average of 22 in his first-class career, but only played one Test, in which he claimed four wickets. He was born at Kuwait City. Neil Curnow
Neil Stephen Curnow (born 29 April 1982) is an English cricketer. George is a left-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium pace. He was born at Truro, Cornwall. Curnow made his Minor Counties Championship debut for Cornwall in 2000 against Dorset. From 2000 to 2007, he represented the county in 17 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which came against Shropshire. George also represented Cornwall in the MCCA Knockout Trophy. His debut in that competition came against Wiltshire in 2000. From 2000 to 2006, he represented the county in 11 Trophy matches, the last of which came against Berkshire. Curnow also represented Cornwall in 2 List A matches. These came against Cheshire and Sussex in the 2001 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy and Worcestershire in the 2002 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy.
