2012 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships
The 2012 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships were the 76th such event organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation. 46 teams representing their countries participated in six levels of competition. The competition also served as qualifications for division placements in the 2013 competition. Championship The Championship took place between sixteen teams from 4 to 20 May 2012. The 2011 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships was the 75th such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Teams representing 46 countries participated in four levels of competition. The competition also served as qualifications for division placements in the 2012 competition. Finland won the championship with a 6–1 win in the final game against Sweden. Championship The Championship took place between sixteen teams from 29 April to 15 May 2011. Slovakia hosted the event with games being played in Bratislava and Košice. IIHF Men's World Ice Hockey Championships
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; ; ) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 84 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). 2012 IIHF World U18 Championships
The 2012 IIHF U18 World Championship was the 14th IIHF World U18 Championship and was hosted in Brno, Znojmo and Břeclav, Czech Republic. It began on 12 April 2012 with the gold medal game played on 22 April 2012. Brno and Znojmo were originally to co-host, but a schedule change became necessary when HC Kometa Brno, Kometa Brno unexpectedly advanced to the Czech Extraliga finals, making their home ice unavailable to the tournament on three days. 2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships
The 2012 IIHF U20 World Championship (commonly known as the 2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships) was the 36th edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship. It was hosted in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It began on December 26, 2011, and ended with the gold medal game played in Calgary on January 5, 2012. Sweden defeated defending-champion Russia 1–0 in overtime to win their first title in 31 years. Russian forward Evgeny Kuznetsov was named MVP of the tournament. Denmark was relegated to Division I and Germany was promoted to the 2013 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
