2012 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Football Team
The 2012 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football team represented Louisiana Tech University as a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) during the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Led by third-year head coach Sonny Dykes, the Bulldogs played five of their six home games at Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston, Louisiana and one at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Bulldogs finished the season 9–3 overall and 4–2 in conference play to place third in the WAC. Despite having one of the most successful seasons in program history, the Bulldogs did not play in a bowl game. They were initially invited to the Independence Bowl, but asked for more time to decide to see if other options opened up. No other bowl invited them, and the Independence Bowl selected Ohio instead. Sonny Dykes
Daniel "Sonny" Dykes (born November 9, 1969) is an American football coach, and a former college baseball player. He is currently the head football coach at Texas Christian University (TCU), and previously served in the same role at Southern Methodist University (SMU) from 2018 to 2021, the University of California, Berkeley from 2013 to 2016, and Louisiana Tech University from 2010 to 2012. He led Texas Christian University (TCU) to the semifinal and the championship of the college football playoff in his first year as the Texas Christian University (TCU) head coach. Dykes, the youngest son of former Texas Tech head coach Spike Dykes, began his career as a high school baseball and football coach in Texas. 2012 Ohio Bobcats Football Team
The 2012 Ohio Bobcats football team represented Ohio University in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by eighth-year head coach Frank Solich and played their home games at Peden Stadium. They were a member of the East Division of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). After defeating Akron on October 13 to become 7–0 the Bobcats were ranked #25 in the AP Poll; Ohio had not been ranked nationally since 1968. On October 21, 2012, the Bobcats peaked at #23 in both the Coaches Poll and AP Poll, and #24 in the BCS standings. Kenneth Dixon (American Football)
Kenneth Dixon (born January 21, 1994) is a former American football running back. He played college football at Louisiana Tech, and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Early years Dixon attended Strong High School in Strong, Arkansas. During the team's state title run in Dixon's senior year 2011, he ran for a state record 3,153 yards and 39 touchdowns. For his season efforts, he was named "Mr. Football" in the state of Arkansas. Dixon also competed in track & field at Strong. At the 2011 7AA District T&F Meet, Dixon threw the shot put over , won the 110-meter hurdles and the long jump, and also placed 2nd in the 100-meter dash. Vernon Butler Jr. (born June 14, 1994) is an American football nose tackle who is a free agent. He played college football at Louisiana Tech, and selected in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. Ruston High School is a four-year public high school located in the Lincoln Parish School District of Ruston, Louisiana, United States. Kentrell Montez Brice (born August 11, 1994) is an American football strong safety for the DC Defenders of the XFL. He played college football at Louisiana Tech and signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He has also been a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Dragons, Chicago Bears, and Arizona Cardinals.
