2012 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship
The 2012 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship was the 118th staging of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment in by the Kilkenny County Board in 1887. The championship began on 13 October 2014 and ended on 11 November 2012. James Stephens were the defending champions, however, they were defeated in the semi-final. Dunnamaggin were relegated from the championship. Ballyhale Shamrocks won the championship following a 0–16 to 0–12 defeat of Dicksboro in the final. Erin's Own GAA (Kilkenny)
Erin's Own Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in 1885 and since then has been the main sporting organization in the Castlecomer area in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Erin's Own fielded teams in 11 different grades of hurling and in 7 grades of gaelic football in 2006, and is currently undertaking major development at its new ground, Canon Kearns Park. Jimmy Coogan
James Michael Coogan (born 24 April 1978) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a left wing-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Tullaroan, County Kilkenny, Coogan first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St. Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He joined the senior team during the 2000 championship. Coogan later became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and won two All-Ireland medals and one National Hurling League medal. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Coogan won one Railway Cup medal. At club level he played with Tullaroan. His brother, Ken, was also an All-Ireland medallist with Kilkenny. Throughout his career Coogan made 11 championship appearances. Martin Comerford
Martin Timothy Comerford (born 9 November 1978) is an Irish hurler who played as a centre-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in London, at an early age Comerford went to St. John's Boys' National School in Ballybough Street, Kilkenny. Comerford went on to attend St. Kieran's College but was overlooked for the hurling team. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-one when he first linked up with the Kilkenny under-21 team. He joined the senior panel during the 2001 championship. Comerford later became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and won six All-Ireland medals, eight Leinster medals and four National League medals on the field of play. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. At club level Comerford is a two-time Leinster medallist with O'Loughlin Gaels. Colin Fennelly
Colin Fennelly (born 25 August 1989) is an Irish hurler who plays as a forward for Kilkenny Senior Championship club Ballyhale Shamrocks. He is a former captain of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. Fennelly first appeared on the inter-county scene with the Kilkenny minor and under-21 teams, before establishing himself on the Kilkenny senior team, going on to make a combined total of 88 league and championship appearances across ten seasons. Henry Shefflin
Henry Shefflin (born 11 January 1979) is an Irish hurling manager and former player who is the current manager of the Galway senior hurling team. In his playing career he was nicknamed "King Henry" because of his directive style, dominance, competitive spirit and leadership on the field. Eoin Larkin (born 17 July 1984) is an Irish hurler and coach. His league and championship career as a forward with the Kilkenny senior team spanned twelve seasons from 2005 to 2016. Born in Kilkenny, Larkin first played competitive hurling following encouragement from his father. He attended St. Kieran's College where he began his college hurling career as goalkeeper at under-14 level. Larkin simultaneously came to prominence with the James Stephens club at juvenile and underage levels, winning two county under-21 championship medals in 2000 and 2002. Mark Bergin (born 28 April 1989) is an Irish hurler who is a former captain of the Kilkenny senior team. Carrickshock GAA
Carrickshock is an Irish Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the south of County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1928 when the teams from Hugginstown and Knockmoylan were amalgamated in commemoration of the Battle of Carrickshock, 1831. Carrickshock have had success in the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship, winning the competition seven times. O'Loughlin Gaels is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the St. John’s parish of Kilkenny city, County Kilkenny, Ireland. History The club was founded in 1969, replacing the St. John’s Hurling Club that started back in 1887.
