2012 FIU Golden Panthers Football Team
The 2012 FIU Panthers football team represented Florida International University during the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by sixth year head coach Mario Cristobal and played their home games at FIU Stadium. They were a member of the Sun Belt Conference. This was the Panthers final season as members of the Sun Belt as they have accepted an invitation to join Conference USA on July 1, 2013. They were a member of the Sun Belt Conference. Mario Cristobal
Mario Manuel Cristobal (born September 24, 1970) is head football coach of the Miami Hurricanes football team at the University of Miami. Cristobal previously was the head football coach at Florida International University (FIU) from 2007 to 2012 and the University of Oregon from 2017 to 2021. He was an all-conference offensive tackle on the Miami Hurricanes football team that won College football national championships in NCAA Division I FBS, national championships in 1989 and 1991. Mario is the first Cuban-American Head Coach in NCAA Division I college football history. 2012 South Alabama Jaguars Football Team
The 2012 South Alabama Jaguars football team represented the University of South Alabama in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by fourth-year head coach Joey Jones and played their home games at Ladd–Peebles Stadium. They were a member of the Sun Belt Conference. As part of their two-year transition to the FBS from the FCS, the Jaguars were not eligible for the Sun Belt championship and were not eligible to play in a bowl game. 2012 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Football Team
The 2012 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers football team represented Western Kentucky University in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by third-year head coach Willie Taggart and played their home games at Houchens Industries–L. T. Smith Stadium. They were a member of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 7–6, 4–4 in Sun Belt play to finish in fifth place. They were invited to the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, their first bowl appearance since joining FBS in 2007, where they were defeated by Central Michigan.
