2012 European Junior And U23 Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2012 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Solkan, Slovenia from 6 to 9 September 2012 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 14th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 10th edition for the Under 23 category. A total of 19 medal events took place. No medals were awarded for the junior women's C1 team event due to low number of participating countries. Solkan
Solkan ( or ; it, Salcano, german: link=no, Sollingen or ''Salcano'') is a settlement in the Municipality of Nova Gorica in the Gorizia region of western Slovenia, at the border with Italy. Although it forms a single urban area with the city of Nova Gorica today, it has maintained the status of a separate urban settlement due to its history and the strong local identity of its residents. The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint Stephen and belongs to the Diocese of Koper. History Solkan was first mentioned in 1001, in the same document as the neighbouring town of Gorizia (now in Italy), which was then still a village. Adam Svoboda (canoeist)
Adam Svoboda (26 January 1978 – 7 May 2019) was a Czech ice hockey goaltender and coach. Club career Svoboda began his professional career with HC Sparta Praha, starting in 25 games for the club throughout the 1996-97 Czech Extraliga season. He spent the next few years in Pardubice, before leaving for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers in 2004. After brief stints in Russia and Sweden, he returned to the Czech Extraliga at the end of the 2005-06 season. Svoboda won his first Extraliga title in 2008 with HC Slavia Praha, and later a second one five years later, this time as a member of the HC Škoda Plzeň. He retired at the age of 39 in 2017, spending the final season of his career in Kazakhstan.
