400 Metres Hurdles
The 400 metres hurdles is a track and field hurdling event. The event has been on the Olympic athletics programme since 1900 for men and since 1984 for women. On a standard outdoor track, 400 metres is the length of the inside lane, once around the stadium. Runners stay in their lanes the entire way after starting out of the blocks and must clear ten hurdles that are evenly spaced around the track. The hurdles are positioned and weighted so that they fall forward if bumped into with sufficient force, to prevent injury to the runners. Although there is no longer any penalty for knocking hurdles over, runners prefer to clear them cleanly, as touching them during the race slows runners down. The best male athletes can run the 400 m hurdles in a time of around 46 seconds, while the very best female athletes achieve a time of around 51 seconds. Hanna Serhiyivna Titimets ( uk, Анна (Ганна) Сергіївна Тітімець; born 5 March 1989) is a Ukrainian hurdler. Career She represented her country at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics narrowly missing the final on both occasions. In addition, she competed at two World Championships, in 2011 and 2013. Titimets won the silver medal at the 2014 European Athletics Championships, 2014 European Championships. Angela Moroșanu
Angela Moroșanu (born 26 July 1986 in Iași) is a Romanian athlete. Moroșanu was discovered by Albu Ştefan who became her first trainer whilst she was at school in Belcești, a village 40 km from Iaşi. She started out competing for sports clubs in Iaşi and Bacău. Currently, she represents CS Dinamo București. At the 2004 Summer Olympics Moroșanu was part of the Romanian 4 × 400 m relay team. She finished 8th in the 200 m final at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg, where she also took part in the 400 m hurdles. In 2007 Moroșanu became the European Under 23 Champion in the 400 m hurdles with a Championship Record time. Zuzana Hejnová (; born 19 December 1986) is a retired Czech athlete who specialised in the 400 metres hurdles. She won the silver medal in the event at the 2012 London Olympics. Hejnová is a two-time World Champion, having claimed titles at the 2013 and 2015 World Championships in Athletics.
