2012 Clásica De San Sebastián
The 2012 Clásica de San Sebastián was the 32nd edition of the Clásica de San Sebastián, a single-day cycling race. It was held on 14 August 2012, over a distance of , starting and finishing in San Sebastián, in the Basque Country, Spain. It was the twenty-first event of the 2012 UCI World Tour season. The race was won for the second time in three years by rider Luis León Sánchez after making a late-race attack on the descent from the Alto de Arkale. Second place went to 's Simon Gerrans, while Gianni Meersman rounded out the podium placings for . 2012 UCI World Tour
The 2012 UCI World Tour was the fourth edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2009. The series started with the Tour Down Under's opening stage on 17 January, and consisted of 14 stage races, 14 one-day races, and one team time trial (which only counted towards the team rankings). The Tour of Hangzhou which was originally included in the list of races was postponed until 2013. __TOC__ Teams The 18 UCI ProTeams competed in the World Tour, with UCI Professional Continental teams, or national squads, able to enter at the discretion of the organisers of each event. Diego Ulissi (born 15 July 1989) is an Italian road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . UCI ProTour
The UCI ProTour was a series of road bicycle races in Europe, Australia and Canada organised by the UCI (International Cycling Union). Created by Hein Verbruggen, former president of the UCI, it comprises a number of 'ProTour' cycling teams, each of whom are required to compete in every round of the series. It was initially the basis of a season long competition for rankings points, created for 2005 to replace the UCI Road World Cup series, which ended at the end of the 2004 season (although the World Cup did not include any stage races).
