The 2012 Chicago Slaughter season was the team's sixth season as a professional indoor football franchise and third in the Indoor Football League (IFL). One of sixteen teams competing in the IFL for the 2012 season, the Hoffman Estates, Illinois-based Chicago Slaughter were members of the United Conference. Steve McMichael
Stephen Douglas McMichael (born October 17, 1957), nicknamed "Mongo", "Ming" and "Ming the Merciless", is an American former professional football player, sports broadcaster, and professional wrestler. McMichael played college football for the University of Texas at Austin and was an All-American. Professionally, he played in the National Football League (NFL) for the New England Patriots, Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers as a defensive tackle, winning Super Bowl XX with the Bears in January 1986. During his professional wrestling career, McMichael was known for his time in World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He became a member of the legendary Four Horsemen stable and was a one-time WCW United States Champion. 2012 Cedar Rapids Titans Season
The 2012 Cedar Rapids Titans season was the first for the indoor American football team that played its inaugural season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). The team hosted their home games at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, situated in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In August 2011, it was announced that the Cedar Rapids Titans would become an expansion team of the Indoor Football League for the 2012 season. Titans' General Manager Chris Kolalis stated, "We believe that Cedar Rapids is a fantastic market to bring a team into. We hope to promote economic development and be a part of the growth of the community by being active and giving back to the fans." 2012 Indoor Football League Season
The 2012 Indoor Football League season was the fourth season of the Indoor Football League (IFL). The league lost nine of its previous teams but gained three new teams. The three new teams were the Cedar Rapids Titans, New Mexico Stars and the Everett Raptors. The season kicked off on February 19, 2012, when the Chicago Slaughter beat the Bloomington Edge 50–34. For the 2012 season, the IFL switched to a two-conference format with no divisions, due, in large part, to the loss of all the Texas-based teams (except the Allen Wranglers) to the newly formed Lone Star Football League. The Wranglers brought attention to the league for offering a US$500,000 contract to unemployed wide receiver Terrell Owens to become the team's part-owner and wide receiver. The Santander Arena (formerly known as the Sovereign Center) is a 7,160-seat multi-purpose arena, in Reading, Pennsylvania. It was built in 2001. The arena sits on the former site of the Astor Theater; one of several grand movie and theater palaces built in Reading in the early 20th century. Closed in 1975, the theater sat vacant for over two decades. In 1998, the Astor was demolished to make room for the Santander Arena. Early in construction, steps were taken to retain mementos of the Astor, including its ornate Art Deco chandelier and gates. These are on display and in use inside the arena corridors, allowing insight into the ambience of the former movie house. Resch Center
The Resch Center is a 10,200-seat multi-purpose arena, in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, United States built in 2002. It is the home of the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team, the Green Bay Gamblers ice hockey team, and the Green Bay Blizzard indoor football team. The arena also hosts the annual high school girls' volleyball and girls' basketball tournaments for the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association under a long-term agreement. Sioux Falls Arena is a 7,500-seat multi-purpose arena located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The facility was built in 1961.
