2012 CAF Champions League Qualifying Rounds
The 2012 CAF Champions League qualifying rounds decided the eight teams which played in the 2012 CAF Champions League group stage, group stage. The schedule for the tournament was released in October 2011, and the draw for all three rounds was held in Cairo on 9 December 2011. Qualification ties were decided over two-legged tie, two legs, with aggregate goals used to determine the winner. If the sides were level on aggregate after the second leg, the away goals rule was applied, and if still level, the tie proceeded directly to a penalty shootout (association football), penalty shootout (no extra time (association football), extra time was played). Preliminary round This was a knock-out stage of the 38 teams that did not receive byes to the first round. Chlef
Chlef ( ar, الشلف, Berber: Clef) is the capital of Chlef Province, Algeria. Located in the north of Algeria, west of the capital, Algiers, it was founded in 1843, as Orléansville, on the ruins of Roman ''Castellum Tingitanum''. In 1962, it was renamed al-Asnam, but after the devastating earthquake on October 10, 1980, it has borne its present name, Chlef, which is derived from the name of the Chelif River, the longest river in Algeria. Saint Romaric (died 653) was a Frankish nobleman who lived in Austrasia from the late 6th century until the middle of the 7th century. He and Amatus of Grenoble founded Remiremont Abbey. Biography He was a former Count Palatine in the court of the Merovingian king, Theodebert II. His parents were killed by Queen Brunhilda, and because of the enmity of his family with this queen, he wandered without a home.
