2011–12 Newcastle United F.C. Season
In the 2011–12 football season, English club Newcastle United competed in the Premier League for the second consecutive season. It was Newcastle United's 119th season of professional football. In this season, Newcastle finished in fifth place in the Premier League, thus qualifying for the following season's Europa League. After going through their first 11 games unbeaten, Newcastle then failed to win in six consecutive games in November and December, mainly due to a spate of injuries among key defenders. The team recorded a resounding 3–0 home win over champions Manchester United in January and were hammered 5–0 by Tottenham Hotspur in February. The January transfer window saw the arrival of Senegalese striker Papiss Cissé, who quickly became a core part of the team, scoring 13 goals in 14 appearances. 2012–13 UEFA Europa League
The 2012–13 UEFA Europa League was the 42nd season of Europe's secondary club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the 4th season since it was renamed from the UEFA Cup to the UEFA Europa League. The final was played at the Amsterdam Arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was contested on 15 May 2013 between Portuguese club Benfica and English club Chelsea, who entered the competition at the Round of 32 after they finished in third place in the group stage of the 2012–13 Champions League. Matthew Andrias Grieve (born 8 November 1990) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for Whickham. Club career Newcastle United He joined the Newcastle United Academy in July 2007, having completing his education and having already played for the club at all levels between Under 14 and Under 18. Daniel William Leadbitter (born 7 October 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays for National League North club Gloucester City. He is primarily a right-back and he is also capable of operating all across the defence. Michael Richardson (born 17 March 1992) is an English footballer who plays as a midfielder for Newcastle Blue Star Richardson began his career at Newcastle United.
