2011–12 National League B Season
The 2011–12 National League B season was played from September 9, 2011, to February 7, 2012. The regular season was won by Lausanne HC with 105 points, 15 points ahead of the second place team, SC Langenthal. The playoffs were played from February 12 to March 27, 2012, with SC Langenthal defeating Lausanee HC to become Swiss Champions of NLB. Langenthal would later play HC Ambrì-Piotta in the league qualification series. Since Ambrì-Piotta would defeat Langenthal in the series, there was no changes to the NLA or NLB teams for the 2012–2013 seasons. Regular season The National League B regular season consists of 45 games, 2 double rounds playing each team twice, and a single round playing each team once. National League B
The Swiss League is the second tier of the main professional ice hockey league in Switzerland, behind the National League. The winners of the league each season plays a best-of-seven series against the bottom team of the NL, and if they win, they are promoted, while the National League team is relegated to the Swiss League. Prior to the 2017–18 season, the league was formerly called National League B. The league attendance in 2018–19 was about 2,700 spectators. Valascia
Valascia was an indoor sporting arena located in Ambrì, Switzerland. The capacity of the arena was 6,500 and was built in 1959. It served as the home arena of the HC Ambri-Piotta ice hockey team of the National League (NL) from 1959 to 2021. The ends of the arena were open air, making hockey being played there partially outdoor. The team moved into the newly built arena for the 2021/22 season. The Valascia was then demolished as it was located in a potential avalanche path. Closure Construction for the new arena was scheduled to begin in July 2017 before being postponed to a later date. Should construction not begin before the summer of 2018, Ambri-Piotta will no longer be allowed to play in the National League. Renovation isn't possible as it would bring the total capacity below the required 6,000 to compete in the National League and the arena would still face danger from potential avalanches.
