2011–12 Hull City A.F.C. Season
The 2011–12 season is Hull City's second consecutive season back in the Championship after relegation from the Premier League in the 2009–10 season. They also competed in the League Cup and the FA Cup. Events On 15 November 2011 manager Nigel Pearson left the club to take up an appointment at former club Leicester City, taking with him backroom staff Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh. Hull City appointed Nick Barmby as caretaker manager. On 18 November it was announced that Steve Wigley would be rejoining the club's backroom staff as first-team coach. On 6 January 2012 Barmby announced that he would be retiring as a player. On 10 January 2012 he was appointed as permanent manager of the club. Craig Shakespeare
Craig Robert Shakespeare (born 26 October 1963) is an English football coach and former player who was most recently the assistant manager of Norwich City. A midfielder, he began his playing career with Walsall, where he made over 350 appearances. After a brief spell with Sheffield Wednesday, he also made over 100 appearances for both West Bromwich Albion and Grimsby Town. As a coach, Shakespeare has previously worked at West Bromwich Albion, Leicester City and Hull City. He was briefly caretaker manager at West Brom in 2006 and took a similar role at Leicester in February 2017 before he was appointed manager in March. He was appointed permanent manager of Leicester City on 8 June 2017 after signing a 3-year deal. Cameron Stewart (footballer)
Cameron Reece Stewart (born 8 April 1991) is an English former professional footballer. He played primarily as a winger, but he also played as a forward. He began his career with Fletcher Moss Rangers, then moving onto Manchester United, and also represented England at under-17, under-19 and under-20 level. He had loan spells with Yeovil Town and Hull City in the first half of the 2010–11 season, before he joined Hull permanently for an undisclosed fee in January 2011. Captain (association Football)
The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities. The team captain is usually identified by the wearing of an armband. Responsibilities The only official responsibility of a captain specified by the Laws of the Game is to participate in the coin toss prior to kick-off (for choice of ends or to have kick-off) and prior to a penalty shootout. James Chester
James Grant Chester (born 23 January 1989) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back and is a free agent. Chester began his career with Manchester United but made only one appearance for the club. He had spells on loan at Peterborough United, Plymouth Argyle and Carlisle United before joining Hull City in January 2011 on a permanent contract. He spent three-and-a-half years there before signing for West Bromwich Albion in 2015. After only one year with West Brom, Chester joined Championship club Aston Villa in the summer of 2016. Chester helped Villa gain promotion to the Premier League after winning the 2019 EFL Championship play-off Final. He joined Stoke City on loan in January 2020 before making it permanent in August 2020. Paul McKenna (footballer)
Paul Stephen McKenna (born 20 October 1977) is an English former professional footballer. Career Preston North End Born in Eccleston, Lancashire, after making his debut in 1997 he soon became a fixture in the Preston North End first team. His appearance tally was 427 at the end of the 2007–08 season. This puts him at number nine in the all-time record appearances for the club. He has worn the number 16 shirt since squad numbers were adopted by the Football League. The 2006–07 season ended in disappointment for the Chorley-born player, not only at missing out on the Play-offs but at missing the last two months of the season with a groin problem. Liam Rosenior
Liam James Rosenior (born 9 July 1984) is an English football manager and former player. He played either as a full-back or winger. He is the son of former player and manager Leroy Rosenior, and spent time on loan at Torquay United, where his father was manager, during their promotion season in 2003–04. He also played for Bristol City, Fulham, Reading, Ipswich Town, Hull City and Brighton & Hove Albion. On 3 November 2022, he was appointed head coach at Hull City. Adriano Basso
Adriano Basso (born 18 April 1975) is a retired Brazilian footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is currently the goalkeeper coach at Sheffield Wednesday. Basso began his playing career in his native Brazil before entering English league football with Bristol City for whom he remained for five years. After being released in 2010, he signed a short-term deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers the following year and then spent his last season at Hull City. Stuart Watkiss
Stuart Watkiss (born 8 May 1966) is an English football coach and former professional player who is the assistant coach of Indian Super League club Jamshedpur. As a player, he was a defender and notably played in the Football League with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crewe Alexandra, Walsall, Hereford United and Mansfield Town. He became manager of Mansfield in 2002, and later took charge Kidderminster Harriers. Stephen Roger Bruce (born 31 December 1960) is an English professional Manager (association football), football manager and former Football player, player who played as a centre-back. Adam Pearson (born 19 November 1964) is the owner of Hull F.C. rugby league club, and former Executive Director of Leeds United. He is the former chairman of English association football club Derby County, Chairman (2001–07 & 2009–10) and Head of Football Operations (2010–12) at Hull City and a former member of the Sheffield Wednesday footballing committee. Andy Dawson
Andrew Stuart Dawson (born 20 October 1978) is an English former professional footballer and coach. He is part of the coaching staff at Hull City. As a player he was a defender from 1997 to 2015. Having left Nottingham Forest as a youngster he joined Scunthorpe United permanently following a loan spell. He played for United on two occasions during his career having also spent ten years with Hull City.
